This idea strikes me as meaningful and important to humanity on a much broader scale than just regarding engineering. How far astray have we gone because a "professor" (academia, media, leader, "expert") has told us what questions are important and what answers are correct?

That's what makes the difference in Elon's companies. Most organizations are structured in such a way that subordinates should not question the directives from top management. In Elon's management however, anyone can go directly to the top manager to suggest an idea or question something. Totally different culture.
