Roberto De Zerbi Combination setup from Tottenham most recent training session in New Zealand. A short, sharp combination practice with a strong emphasis on technical quality. Depending on the progression, the final pass is played by either the player who starts the sequence or the player positioned on the end line. 🔘Tottenham Hotspur positional game setup under Roberto De Zerbi yesterday morning 🔥 18x18 area. Locked in positions in possession ⚽ In possession: stay in your box, use the neutrals, find a way through the pressure. 🔥 Out of possession: press as a two in each half Simple Objective: Move it from one end zone to the other = score. If the pressing team win it? Roles reverse instantly. High tempo. Sharp decisions. Non stop transitions. Ajax training this week featured this Combination Passing Practice: Up Back Through Variation Practice Description This technical combination practice is designed to develop passing quality, positional awareness, timing of movement and communication. The outside players will always complete two passes around the outside before transferring the ball through the central area (Adapt as it progresses). As the ball enters the middle, the two central players combine using an up back through pattern. Both central players must continually assess the movement of the ball, adjust their positioning and prepare early to receive. Play is limited to one or two touches to encourage efficient ball circulation. Following the central combination, the player who sets the ball rotates into the outside position. The player who initially passes into the central area moves inside to continue the sequence. Coaching Points • Maintain concentration throughout the practice • Scan regularly and adjust position as the ball travels • Communicate early and clearly • Create appropriate angles and distances of support • Receive with an open body position where possible • Play firm, accurate passes with the correct weight • Set the ball into the path of the supporting player • Time movements to maintain the rhythm of the sequence • Rotate positions quickly and efficiently • Maintain technical quality while working at a high tempo Save this post and follow us for more. Spain Used This Possession Setup in training yesterday ahead of a huge fixture vs Uruguay in the early hours of Saturday (UK Time) In Variation 1, teams keep possession and look to score with a one touch finish into the mini goals. A direct one touch finish is worth one point, while a one touch finish after a bounce pass off an end line neutral is worth two points. In Variation 2, the team in possession must first get two players onto each flank before they can score. This encourages width, quick circulation, and then fast counter pressing when the ball is lost. Follow us for more like this and join our website for instant access to more content.

This is a Manchester City positional transfer rondo from their open training session today. Very Pep Guardiola like from Enzo Maresca who it seems is keen not to change too much. Play is continuous 8v3, with the team in possession aiming to complete a set number of passes before transferring the ball into the opposite zone for one point. A bonus point is awarded if the transfer is made through the neutral link player positioned in the central dividing zone. Players are limited to one or two touches. The pressing team remains in for set time periods to ensure the workload is evenly distributed. Get more training sessions via our website.

Tottenham high intensity combination setup in training this week. ⚡ Watch the quality and intensity of the actions, but look beyond that. Notice how Roberto De Zerbi uses coaches as shadow pressure, forcing players to make decisions while challenging their body orientation, passing angles and angles of support. A simple detail that adds real game realism to the sequence. Access more training sessions via our website.

🔥 PSG 5v5 TRANSITIONAL POSSESSION PRACTICE A fantastic possession setup designed to develop playing through pressure, fast attacking transitions and immediate counter pressing. ⚽ How It Works • Play takes place in a central 16 by 16 yard zone • The blue team aims to work the ball from one end of the practice to the other to score to score points • If the red team regain possession, they break out quickly • They can dribble through any of the four transition gates 🎯 Key Focus • Maintain good positional structure • Move the ball quickly through the central area • React immediately when possession changes • Secure the first pass into space in transition (if it's on) • Carry the ball forward with speed • Counter press aggressively after losing possession A great example from PSG of building clear attacking and transition principles into a possession practice. 📌 Save this one for your next session. 🔴 Take 30 seconds to read and understand this Liverpool positional practice under Andoni Iraola. We’ve seen this practice shared on other pages who try to replicate what we do, but the explanations have been wrong. First of all, this is a 6v5 positional practice, not 6v6 or 5v5. In the first zone, the practice is played as a 5v4 and within an area 16(L) x 28(W) Yards. The players are deliberately positioned to replicate: ▪️ Two centre backs on the end line (They can step in) ▪️ Two inverted wide players ▪️ One central pivot ▪️ Two mini goals representing players between the lines AKA number 10 positions. The top zone is then played as a 1v1. The practice is designed to recreate central overloads when Liverpool have controlled possession in the opposition half, that's why it is setup in that part of the pitch, again deliberately so. The 1v1 represents a potential moment when an opposition centre back steps forward to track a player receiving between the lines, and spaces appear to run into. This creates an important decision for the team in possession. After completing a set number of passes, can they: ⚽ Play into a mini goal (10 positions between lines), for one point? Or… ⚽ Release the attacker with a well timed forward pass beyond for two points if a goal is scored? The attacker must remain onside, angle their run beyond the defender and finish into either target goal. If the pressing team regains possession, their objective is to attack quickly and score in transition into the mini target goals just beyond the halfway line. The purpose of the practice is to develop pictures, connections and decisions when dominating possession high up the pitch. Can we play through the opposition when the space is available, or play beyond them when they step forward? From there, the coaching principles begin: ✅ Play forward when it’s on ✅ Recognize when to play through or beyond ✅ Maintain positional connections ✅ React immediately in transition And so on! That’s session planning, and a real insight into the detail behind the practice. Save this for your next session and follow us for more ⚽ #FootballCoaching #SoccerCoaching #PositionalPlay #LiverpoolFC #AndoniIraola #CoachDevelopment #FootballTactics #SoccerDrills #FootballTraining

Tottenham Hotspur training this morning. Lots of people asking about the practice from Roberto De Zerbi today, so here it is. The first place you'll find this animated to explain, before other pages see it then make it also. Three zones. Five v two running in the active end zones. Split by a central zone. Out of possession, the pressers in the central zone can press wide players or look to intercept direct transfers. Focus on patience in possession. Move it, wait, then find the right moment to turn and progress, either wide or straight through. A Liverpool first team training session vs an academy session. The two sessions are structured almost identically, with small tweaks to reflect the levels. This is advantageous for a number of tactical and technical reasons, but specifically in terms of physical load monitoring. Using our technology, academy and first team coaches can seamlessly monitor and access academy players’ physical data as they move from the academy set up to the first team. With such similarly designed training sessions, theoretically, it makes the young players’ transition to the first team easier and limits blind spots in terms of load monitoring.
