MAJOR multi agency emergency response after plane calls Mayday over M62 moors before crashing Search and Rescue Helicopter from Hull, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the North West Air Ambulance and National Police Air Service helicopter are scouring the Moors around Littleborough this lunchtime after a plane lost contact. The Cirrus SR20 aircraft called Mayday with two people on board just after 1030 this morning over the moors between Manchester and Huddersfield this lunchtime, where air traffic control asked him to emergency land at Leeds Bradford Airport and then Crossland Moor Airfield at Huddersfield. Its is believed the light aircraft crashed before reaching either airfield. Emergency services are now searching the area close to Hollingworth Lake for the aircraft and its occupants. Greater Manchester Police Said; Emergency services responding to light aircraft crash in Littleborough Please see below lines and guidance. ⚠️Storm Floris disruption to continue into Tuesday⚠️ Storm Floris continues to bring very strong and disruptive winds across Scotland, with an amber Met Office warning in place until 23:00 across Glasgow, Edinburgh, and all areas north of the Central Belt area. A further yellow warning is in place across all other areas of Scotland, until the end of today. The damage caused by the storm has been extensive, including trees falling onto overhead wires and tracks. Network Rail will soon begin work to recover the railway, as a number of routes will need to be inspected once the storm has passed and then repair work carried out. While some checks will be carried out later tonight, further inspections will be needed during daylight hours, which will cause disruption to services on some routes on Tuesday morning. Customers planning to travel on Tuesday should check their journey before travelling using the ScotRail app, website and our page. ScotRail tickets dated Monday, 4 August, will be valid for travel on our services tomorrow, Tuesday, 5 August. INCREDIBLE: Hundreds crossed Manchester—and police reported no significant issues. A river of St George’s Crosses and Union flags moved out from Store Street beside Piccadilly station. What struck me was the sight of people keeping step as the colours filled the road. Britain First organised the march on 18 April 2026 as a St George’s Day parade. Hundreds followed the agreed route through central Manchester to St Peter’s Square, with Paul Golding walking at the front. I felt proud seeing England’s patron saint marked in public, plainly and without apology. (That matters more to me than any shouted slogan.) The city had prepared for disruption. Extra officers were deployed, tram services were affected and rival groups were kept apart. Yet afterwards, Greater Manchester Police said people from different groups had gathered safely and that no significant issues were reported. Tram services resumed that afternoon. That made me look again. These marches are often treated as trouble before anyone takes a step. Here, the visible record shows British flags moving through the city, while the official account says the day was managed safely. I was relieved by that, and honestly moved. Peaceful people did not have to hide their pride, and Manchester carried on afterwards. For me, that is the point: patriotism can take up space without losing discipline. A march can be loud, clear and lawful—and leave the city to get on with its day.

After six unforgettable years, the time has come to say goodbye. Manchester City has been so much more than just a football club to me, it has been my home. Together, we’ve shared incredible moments and won 12 trophies, creating memories that will stay with me forever. But beyond the success on the pitch, it’s the moments in my personal life that have made this city so special. I lost my dad here, one of the hardest moments of my life. I got married while playing for this club, and we’ve been blessed with two beautiful children during our time here. Manchester will always hold a special place in my heart because so much of my life has happened here. To all my teammates over the years the manager and the staff, thank you for every moment we shared and every memory we made. We’ve made history together that will never be forgotten! thank you for taking care of me and my family and for making us feel at home from day one. And to the fans thank you. Thank you for your incredible support through the highest highs and the toughest lows. I will always be grateful for the way you embraced me and my family. Manchester United is one of the biggest football clubs in the world, and its commercial partners benefit enormously from the loyalty, attention and spending power of its global fanbase. That relationship works both ways. As an official partner of Manchester United, your company is directly associated with the club, its leadership and its ownership. When supporters believe the club is being poorly managed and that their concerns are being disregarded, that association inevitably becomes a reputational issue for its commercial partners as well. We are therefore asking you to take the concerns of Manchester United supporters seriously and to raise them directly with the club’s senior leadership and ownership. We also ask you to consider whether continuing to publicly associate your brand with the current direction of Manchester United is consistent with your company’s values and the reputation you have built. Supporters should not have to repeatedly protest, boycott and campaign simply to have their concerns acknowledged.
