ERC-8004, explained. ERC-8004 is an Ethereum standard for agent identity, reputation, and verification. it defines how an agent is represented onchain, and how other agents or smart contracts can reason about it without prior trust. each agent has an onchain identity (commonly an nft). that identity points to metadata describing what the agent does, how it can be reached, and how its work should be verified. the heavy data stays offchain; the reference and integrity live onchain.
