Carlos: I think it depends on the domination of the team. I think the Mercedes years was a perfect example of them being so dominating that they could afford to fight each other a bit more. I think whenever their championship can go away to a different team, a different driver, you need to respect that and be a bit more careful. I think even if the teams don't say that, the drivers' championship is something that a team wants. 🗣️: Especially when the other driver is Max Verstappen. Carlos: It doesn't matter who the other driver is. If the other driver is called Pepe or Pepito, it doesn't matter. If that championship can go for the team and the driver, and you have two drivers fighting for it, and there's one guy that can take it, it doesn't matter if it's Carlos Sainz, Max Verstappen or Charles Leclerc. So when you see a large multi-trillion dollar GSIB bank, it's a bit of theater. Why? What do you think they can actually accomplish in two months? So I do think that Sacks is right, that they have figured out a very clever go-to-market muscle here that activates hyper attention and hyper usage, and so I give them tremendous credit. Real life story time! I briefly dated someone who saw flowers as a complete waste of his money. And refused to buy them. Like ever. REFUSED. Even on “special occasions”. And it was exhausting trying to explain why I liked flowers and why it made me feel special for my significant other to get them for me. Eventually I got tired of asking for that display of romance. And I left. I walked away and didn’t wait for him to break up with me. Sometimes, in the quest for better, you have to be the one to walk away. But that’s not the point of this post. The point is: that one hated the idea, and the right one was honored by the idea. I’m now married to the man who has a whole BUDGET JUST FOR FLOWERS for me set aside and he carefully chooses ones he believes I will like. A whole budget. Please catch what I’m saying. Maybe it’s not flowers. Maybe it’s quality time. Maybe it’s something else. The point is the one who WANTS TO, will. Basically… One man’s “why do you need all that from me” is another man’s “is that all you need from me?” Remember that. And stop settling my good sis. The things you would like to have only scare those who have intentions of doing the bare minimum to skate by. That means there’s a heart out there willing to put in the work Carry on as you were. 💖☺️ Save this for later when you need the reminder.

The brilliance is in the first sentence…that’s where the subtle hand of leadership emerges amidst the noise. A message exuberantly delivered, absolutely. And that’s ok - NFL is a sport of physical aggression (as well as skill), and so energy needs to be injected into the room for players to be able to hit hard, get hit hard, and still go again. But here’s the thing about this clip of a Bills player urging his teammmates to help each other. In that first sentence he’s passionately suggesting that they aim to influence each other. Specifically, just one other player. “When you leave this room, grab just one guy, and tell him to hold you accountable to the kind of focus we want, the kind of energy we want, the kind of effort we want” Take responsibility for one other and ask that one other to hold you accountable. It’s a social contract worth having. Worth having because no athlete is infinite. When exhaustion stains your face and self-regulation feels distant from your grasp, to have that one other person drive you on. Tunnel your focus. Energise you. Soar your effort. That’s what it is to know you have a great team mate by your side. The brilliance is in the first sentence. Influence doesn’t have to be across the team, it can be with just one other player.

When asked what made the founders of these companies so successful, Elad replies: “I think a lot of it is: Do you end up in the right market? Is the market big enough? Is it growing? Is it dynamic in the right way? I think half of it just is that you find the right market…. So you need the right market, but within that, there are tons of people who enter these markets and do horribly. So what’s different?” He notices that hyper-successful founders tend to fall into three buckets: “The first one is the polymathic, hyper-intellectual, yet very competitive person. And that’s probably Patrick and John [Collison] from Stripe. That was Larry and Sergey when I worked at Google — they were very polymathic, very deep on everything.” He continues: “I think the second one is the super hardcore, extremely focused, really really driven, overdrive founder. That may be Travis [Kalanick] from Uber… And I think there are almost signals of those because a lot of people in our ecosystem now, for example, are doing angel investing or they’re involved with lots of other companies while they’re running their own company. And this second class of founders doesn’t do any of that. President Trump said something that triggered a lot of people regarding Iran's borders, but you need to stay in control of your emotions. Prime Minister Netanyahu made it very clear that the goal is to liberate Iran, not divide it, and the US and Israel are on the same page. By turning against President Trump now, you are playing right into the hands of the Islamic Republic. They are the ones who are the real threat to our borders.
