"In my opinion the Ethereum network is much more secure in the long term. There's no obvious way to do a Bitcoin-like attack on it" Duke Professor Campbell Harvey on why you can't pull off the Bitcoin attack on Ethereum "This is important because most tokenized assets reside on either the Ethereum blockchain or Ethereum compatible blockchains. But Ethereum has a different method, there's no mining anymore, it's proof of stake. You'd need to take over at least a third of the existing Ethereum, and that turns out to be really hard to do" "Much of the Ethereum is staked, there's a huge queue to go into staking and not much to actually come out. About 65% of the supply is available to unstake, so to get a third you have to buy over half of the existing supply. That's going to be very expensive and would drive the price of Ether up dramatically" "The same trade we talked about for Bitcoin, where you buy the equipment and short the Bitcoin, doesn't work for Ethereum. Because you're buying the Ether, and then if you're selling, it's a wash. So there's no obvious way to do a Bitcoin-like attack on the network"
