Fighting intensified following the deployment of OSF commando units to Andode-Dicho Kebele, where regime forces reportedly suffered significant casualties and material losses during clashes. 🔴 In retaliation, regime forces engaged in widespread human-rights violations between December 23rd and 27th, killing at least 19 civilians and injuring several others. #Ethiopia: In a joint statement delivered at the United Nations Human Rights Council 55th session (#HRC55) today on the importance of transitional justice and accountability in Ethiopia, a group of 42 countries said "Ethiopia’s victims deserve justice" and called on "credible transitional justice and accountability processes" to ensure "peace and reconciliation.” While welcoming "the continued commitment of the Government of Ethiopia and the #Tigray Interim Regional Administration to consolidate the peace process and implement the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement," the 42 countries said they "remain seriously concerned about on-going violence and human rights violations in the #Amhara and #Oromia regions” and the extension of the State of Emergency in Amhara region. #Ethiopia: In a joint statement delivered at the United Nations Human Rights Council 55th session (#HRC55) today on the importance of transitional justice and accountability in Ethiopia, a group of 42 countries said "Ethiopia’s victims deserve justice" and called on "credible transitional justice and accountability processes" to ensure "peace and reconciliation.” While welcoming "the continued commitment of the Government of Ethiopia and the #Tigray Interim Regional Administration to consolidate the peace process and implement the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement," the 42 countries said they "remain seriously concerned about on-going violence and human rights violations in the #Amhara and #Oromia regions” and the extension of the State of Emergency in Amhara region. In Lemi, Gada Commando forces that burned Lemi Teklehaimanot Church last week have occupied Lemi Abo Church and are using the church compound as a military base. Forces positioned at the church have been firing indiscriminately toward civilian-populated areas, further endangering residents and forcing families to flee.
