NEW: Fight breaks out during a sentencing hearing where a Wisconsin teen was sentenced to life in prison for a 2023 shooting. Parise Larry, who was just 14 years old when he carried out the shooting, was seen in court trying to apologize before being sentenced. Larry and then-17-year-old Antonio Johnson were found guilty of k*lling a woman by shooting her in the back of the head while she was taking out the trash. The woman was identified as 20-year-old Tatyanna Zech. Another 18-year-old woman and a man, 49, were also injured. During Larry's sentencing, a fight broke out in the middle of the proceedings, leading to multiple arrests. Both Larry and Johnson were sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.

Butterbean was younger, naturally much heavier, and had the kind of power that could change a fight with one punch. But Holmes didn’t try to fight Butterbean’s fight. He boxed him. The jab was the key. Holmes kept the distance, disrupted Butterbean’s rhythm and made him work just to get into position. Every time Butterbean tried to load up, Holmes was already thinking about the next move. That’s the difference between power and boxing IQ. Butterbean had the power advantage, but Holmes had the experience, timing, distance control and ring intelligence. He understood that he didn’t need to stand in front of Butterbean and trade. And honestly, that jab was still beautiful. Holmes even got caught by a knockdown late in the fight, but he recovered and finished the job, winning the fight by unanimous decision. At 52, against a much younger and dangerous opponent, Larry Holmes showed that sometimes the mind can keep doing things the body supposedly shouldn't be able to do anymore. The WBC still wouldn’t sanction it as a title fight. Holmes was the WBC heavyweight champion and had already made 16 successful defenses. Marvis was unbeaten, but he had only 10 pro fights and wasn’t ranked in the WBC top 10. That mattered. If Marvis had won, Holmes would have lost the belt, but Frazier still wouldn’t have been recognized as WBC champion. Holmes was a 4-to-1 favorite. Once it started, the experience gap showed immediately. He dropped Frazier with a jab-right hand, trapped him in the corner, and unloaded. Marvis entered unbeaten. NEW: Motorcycle muggers 'find out' after a plainclothed policewoman pulls out a gun as they try to rob her. The incident happened in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As one of the thieves jumped off the bike and started moving towards her, the woman could be seen reaching for her firearm. She then let off a shot, hitting the mugger who jumped at her. The thieves, an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old were caught when the one who was hit was forced to get treatment at a hospital. They were both arrested by the police.

The Rochester Police Department says 41-year-old Eric Holmes stole the copper piping from an apartment building's air conditioning unit. The pipe burst, water spread all over the floor, and caused $17,000 in damage. Multiple elderly residents had to be relocated due to the building's heat from a lack of air conditioning. Holmes was arrested for petit larceny, burglary, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief. Holmes skipped his court appearance and had warrants out for his June 16 arrest for robbery and petit larceny, and his May 29 arrest for petit larceny.

A story for kids and parents about Jeff Malott who scored a pretty nice goal here against the Sharks: We were recruiting Jeff when I was still coaching at Cornell. Benny our other assistant liked him as a player, but he hadn't yet jumped off the page. He had average production in the AJHL as a 19 year old and was going back for his 20 year old age-out year in junior hockey. At the beginning of the season, Jeff with his playing schedule couldn't get out for a visit but his parents were driving distance so they drove out to see campus and meet us as a coaching staff. On that visit, we absolutely fell in love with his parents - they were such great people. I cannot understate enough how much of a positive effect their visit had on our staff. Jeff had a pretty good start to his 20 year old junior year. Our research on his character was off the charts and meeting his parents we were blown away as well. And even though he hadn't yet proven himself in junior hockey (only 6 goals and 20 points in 53 games the prior year in the AJHL), we offered him a spot in our program. At worst, he would be a potential captain. Turns out his 20 year old year he scored 60 points, he lead his team to an AJHL championship (he also won a junior B championship a few years earlier), and became the captain at Cornell for the team that was number one in the country before Covid canceled the season. He signed a pro contract out of Cornell but only played games in his first season in the AHL and the ECHL. But with his character he just kept working, was a great leader, and willed his way to the NHL where he's scoring goals like this for the LA Kings. Benny's eye for talent is incredible seeing something in him even though he hadn't yet popped in junior hockey and he wasn't heavily recruited. And his character along with his family's character was just off the charts. I share this story because like we say all the time - everyone has a different path to high level hockey. And the players that are resilient, outwork everyone, and stay the course even if they don't get the result in the time they want it are the ones who put themselves in the best position to achieve their dream. And for the parents - we recruit and evaluate you too, not just your kids. Any college coach will tell you that they've crossed kids names off their list based on the behavior of a parent. But it goes the other way too. We fell in love with Jeff's parents and that absolutely played a role in our decision to offer him a spot in our program. Seeing this goal, there are a lot of people who couldn't be happier for Jeff and his family.
