Evangelion (1995 vs 2009)

The old version was better. Sometimes improvements in visuals don’t mean better shows.

Still blows my mind something that’s 14 years older looks so much better.

The remakes have zero heart, soul or emotion to them.. they took the true art and traded it for upgraded visuals and lifeless slop. The voice acting in the remakes is terrible as well. Neon Genesis and EoE are all that matters.

1995 animation still looked impressive.

1995!! man you cant mimic that nostalgic feeling attached to original animation that i watched as kid. Nothing can replace that, doesn't matter how fancier or smooth. Also. 1990s was peak era of anime, it was passion, not a job for almost all people involed.

No way the hybrid 3d/2d digital artstyle was gonna look better then the original but I still appreciate the rebuilds artstyle

Nostalgia blinded retards in the comments. The movie remakes shit all over the original Evangelion, oh my god the original was boring as shit lmao. The final movie also had a significantly better ending than End of Evangelion. Y'all gotta take off the nostalgia goggles

95 has more aura and impact even when animation and visuals in general in 09 are better...

The period from 1990 to 1999 was the greatest era in the history of anime in terms of storytelling, production, and narrative. Lately, anime has become incredibly trivial and boring; Japan has regressed significantly.

Both are good, but the 95 feels like it has more weight behind it.

Both are so good. I have not watched this show at all so i don't have any attachment. Just looking at these two pieces that groups of people made is amazing. I just can't say any is "bad". If it's bad to you keep your opinion inside a deep chamber

2009 seems hand picked where they wanted to show out because the second shinji gets under the angel it looks better

the CGI instantly made it worse

reject modernity, embrace tradition (in this specific case of course)

I think what cause such a difference in impact is how and when close ups and angles are used the originals does have a more impactful use of these
