Carl Reiner used to say Brooks was the funniest kid he ever met...I suspect that may be the reason Dave 's humor was so deadpan and dry...why try to compete...I also think that Dave mostly made his living behind the scenes as a writer...

@vintagegazette 'Bizarre' sketch show was on late night TV in the UK back in the 80's. Used to love staying up for Super Dave. This was a classic. 'HEY MIKE I CAN FINALLY TOUCH MY TOES'

The details of how his dad died are crazy. Essentially, Harry Einstein (comedian Parkyakarkus) was doing a roast for Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball. He finished and returned to his table next to Milton Berle and keeled over on his lap. The song that the crooner (Tony Martin) was singing at the time was one of two English translated versions of the Italian song, 'O Sole Mio'. The famous one is Elvis', 'It's Now or Never'. What made the tragic moment immensely awkward was that Tony Martin was singing, 'There's No Tomorrow'.

Super Dave Osborne! I haven't thought of that character in forever. Every Dave I knew from that time forward I either called Super Dave (compliment) or Diamond Dave (bless their heart).
