David Simon on the barriers "The Wire" (2002-2008) faced: "Interviewer: Do you think the fact you're telling stories in different ways than is traditional, and it has this darkness to it, was that the big barrier to the show becoming more popular than it was? Would you say it was the racial makeup of the cast? Simon: There were a lot of barriers. The racial makeup of the cast was problematic and we knew that going in. The complexity of the serial itself -- the fact that you couldn't miss a couple of episodes and feel comfortable watching it. Though I think that HBO was a wonderful vehicle for that with the multiple viewings, the DVDs and ultimately with On Demand. It was less of a problem as the show went on. It was also less of a problem as people who watched the show got used to its rhythms. The first season was on some level training the audience to watch television a little bit differently, and reducing the expectations in terms of pacing, in terms of cliffhangers, in terms of the requirement to absorb detail or even to look for symbolism. Those were problems. The other problem is, no easy gratifications, other than some real effort at careful characterization and humor. That was it. Without the humor, it would have been unbearable. Without an acknowledgement of the humanity of the characters, despite all their flaws, their vanities, their absurdities -- if on some level, you can't make people care about the characters, you've got a problem no matter what you're doing. We had some obligations to people if they wanted to watch, but a happy ending was not among the list of obligations." (David Simon's interview with Alan Sepinwall, 2008) P.S: On this day, 24 years ago, the first episode of "The Wire" was aired worldwide.

Do you think that by the folly of man, the glory of God can be diminished? . I tell you, no kingdom of this earth, no rebellion of heart, no blasphemy of tongue can ever tarnish the majesty of the Almighty. His glory is not made by the hands of men, nor is it undone by their defiance. . Consider the arrogance of those who refuse to kneel, who claim that their disbelief can unmake the Creator. They are like madmen in a darkened cell, scratching the word ‘darkness’ upon the walls as though, by their crude mark, they could blot out the sun. But tell me, does the sun diminish because it is unseen by the blind? Does its light falter because a lunatic curses its name? No, my friend. The sun remains, burning with relentless brilliance, giving life to all who dwell beneath it, whether they acknowledge it or not. . So it is with God. His glory is eternal, unshaken by the denial of men. He is the architect of the heavens, the One who breathed life into dust and set the stars upon their courses. His majesty does not depend on our worship, yet it is we who are diminished when we turn away. For in refusing to see His light, we do not extinguish it—we only cast ourselves into the shadow of our own making. . Know that to deny God is not an act of power but of despair. It is the rejection of hope, the refusal to see the beauty written into the very fabric of existence. A man who scribbles darkness upon the walls of his soul does not conquer the light, he only blinds himself to it. Yet even in his rebellion, God’s glory shines undimmed. For the sun does not cease to rise because a man refuses to look upon it. And God does not cease to reign because His children wander from His embrace. . If you ever find yourself in doubt, remember this: the defiance of man is but a whisper against the roar of eternity. The glory of God is as unyielding as the mountains and as boundless as the sea. It is woven into the sunrise, the turning of the seasons, the song of creation itself. You cannot destroy it. You cannot unmake it. You can only choose whether to bask in its light or to linger in the shadows. . Take heart, then and do not be swayed by the noise of those who mock the divine. For their words are as fleeting as the wind but the glory of God is eternal. Acknowledge Him not because He needs your praise but because your soul needs His light. Worship Him not as a favor to the Almighty but as a declaration that you see, that you understand, that you are humbled by the grandeur of the One who crafted all that is and all that ever will be. . God’s glory is not diminished by denial, nor is it amplified by praise. But you, my friend—you are elevated when you bow before the Eternal. You are strengthened when you trust in the One who holds the stars in place. And you are transformed when you abandon the shadows of pride and step into the radiance of His truth. . Remember this always: the lunatic may scrawl his defiance but he cannot extinguish the light. The doubter may deny the sun but he cannot halt its rise. And the world may rage against the King of Kings but it cannot dethrone Him. Stand firm, therefore, as one who walks in the light of God. Let your life be a testimony that His glory endures forever, unshaken, unyielding and undeniable. . For in the end, my friend, it is not God who is diminished by our defiance. It is we. And it is not the sun that falters when we turn away—it is the world that grows colder in its absence. #ChristIsKing #WeAreTheStorm

Someone just stole from 37,000 $TAO holders and walked away clean. Not because they broke a rule. Because no rule existed to stop them. That changes today. Here is what happened. Covenant AI ran one of the most watched subnets on Bittensor. On April 10, the founder sold their entire position and disappeared. No warning. No announcement. No on-chain signal. By the time holders found out, the price had already moved against them. This was not a hack. This was not a bug. This was a founder legally exiting into their own community with zero accountability. Bittensor just closed that door permanently. The Conviction upgrade is live on mainnet today. Every emission a subnet owner earns now locks automatically the moment it arrives. They cannot touch it immediately. If they want to exit they must submit a public unlock transaction on-chain. Visible to every single person on the network the second it is submitted. Then the clock starts. 30 days before 63% of their position becomes spendable. 90 days before 95% is accessible. You now have a month of warning before the first dollar of sell pressure hits. A silent exit is no longer possible. The founder has to tell you they are leaving before they can leave. And it goes further. Any holder can now lock their tokens toward a different address they believe would run the subnet better. The address with the most locked support behind it becomes eligible to take over entirely. Bad owners can be replaced by the community before they do damage. Before today, subnet investing had one risk nobody could price. The person running it could vanish overnight, and you would never see it coming. That risk has been removed from the equation. Skin in the game used to be a promise. Now, it is a number on a block explorer that every holder can verify in real time. The people who understand what accountable infrastructure means for the value of $TAO will not need to explain themselves later. This is still early.

US🇺🇸 TOMAHAWKS FOR UKRAINE🇺🇦 WON’T CHANGE THE WAR, BUT ENCIRCLEMENT OF RUSSIA🇷🇺 CONTINUES ‘We simply don’t have the weapon systems to launch the Tomahawks to give to the Ukrainians. And the same with any of the other weapon systems that have been brought up in the last couple months. The Barracuda missiles, the ERAM missiles, all these various wonder weapons. And we’ve seen a host, a list of wonder weapons as long as my arm that were supposed to have won this war for Ukraine, whether it be the Abrams tank, the HIMARS missiles, the F16s, et cetera. So it was always a bit of an empty threat. On a strategic level, they were talking about the tactical, operational levels, the actual conduct of the war, whether or not these weapons would make a difference in the war. But on the strategic picture, what the Tomahawks did do is break open again the question or the grievance that the Russians have had for decades now about the encroachment of American and NATO weapons systems on Russia. This is one of the core grievances of the war, one of the core issues that Russia has been articulating through successive American administrations. This idea of encirclement, most especially highlighted then by the emplacement of American missile batteries in Poland and Romania. So the Tomahawks brought to the centre again, I think, to the fore this strategic question, this national security imperative that is at the root of Russia’s reasons for this war. While they were an empty gesture in terms of being a threat, while of course there was an escalatory danger to them, even though they were an empty gesture, we could still have both of those things occurring at the same time. The bigger thing was this exposed again one of the root causes of the war; encirclement of Russia by NATO and the United States.’ -Former Pentagon and State Department Official Matthew Hoh on the latest episode of Going Underground FULL INTERVIEW BELOW IN THE REPLIES👇
