Economic Survey ▪️Pegs GDP growth for next fiscal FY27 at 6.8-7.2%, this is lower than current fiscal ▪️Projects medium-term growth potential at 7% ▪️Geo political scenario could disrupt foreign capital inflows and consequently impact the Rupee ▪️External environment uncertain, India needs to be cautious ▪️Drying up foreign capital making the Rupee unstable ▪️Net surplus in services and remittances not enough to offset trade deficit ▪️Urges private sector to accelerate investment and job creation ▪️Indian firms’ outward investment rises from $14 bn to $24 bn in FY25 ▪️Manufacturing estimated to contribute 12.8% of GDP in FY26 ▪️Cautions against a bigger economic crisis than 2008 due to overheated AI valuations ▪️Need to retain students beyond Class 8 ▪️India’s pulses, maize and cereal yields remain below global averages ▪️Traffic and expensive houses are roadblocks for development ▪️Policy reshape needed for gig workers Some questions arise on the basis of what the Economic Survey says 👇 👉What are we celebrating? A sub 7% growth rate? 👉Survey estimates FY26 GDP growth at 7.4% and nominal GDP growth for the same period at just 8%. Why is the difference between nominal and real GDP growth rate only 0.6%? 👉Rupee has depreciated by over 6.5%. So a 8% nominal GDP growth with 6.5% Rupee depreciation means dollar GDP growth of just 1.5%. Why are we not worried? 👉For Viksit Bharat by 2047 - India needs a GDP growth of at least 8.2% every year for the next 21 years. What are we doing about it? 👉Finally someone in the govt accepting that the Rupee has been falling, but blaming it all on geo political uncertainty. But who will explain why the Rupee is the worst performing Asian currency especially when the dollar has weakened? 👉Why are foreign portfolio investors pulling money out of India? What is the plan to save the Rupee from this withdrawal? 👉Why is net FDI negative for 4 months in a row? 👉Why is India’s private sector not investing in India? 👉Why are Indian corporates investing more overseas than in India (outward investment of Indian cos rises from $14 bn to $24 bn in FY25)? 👉Why is manufacturing’s contribution to overall GDP still languishing at 12.8% - down from 15.6% under UPA and way below the targeted 25% of GDP? 👉Why have Make In India, Production-Linked Incentives (PLIs), failed to boost manufacturing? 👉Modi govt had announced 3 Employment-Linked-Incentive schemes (ELIs) in FY25 Budget to create more than 2 crore jobs. How many jobs have been created? 👉Govt had also announced an incentive scheme for 1 crore internships. Why did less than 10,000 people intern in the last 18 months? 👉Survey shows Corporate tax contribution to the total tax kitty declining, personal income tax collection rising. Why are all incentives then for wealthy corporates and not the ordinary tax payers? 👉The survey’s acceptance that students beyond Class 8 are dropping out should ring alarm bells for our education system. Does the Modi govt care which has shut down 90,000 Govt schools and consistently reduced education budget over the years? 👉Survey says India’s pulses, maize and cereal yields remain below global averages - what is being done to make agriculture more remunerative? 👉Survey says traffic and expensive houses are roadblocks for development - will the unliveable urban cities saddled with traffic, waste and pollution wake the govt up?

"Inequality on the Rise, Welfare in Retreat – the Real State of the Economy 2026" There are terms like "Goldilocks Moment" being used for the Indian economy by the Modi government and its fans, but unfortunately, this is far from the reality. ❓First, can you believe the Modi government's numbers? 👉The IMF gave the Modi government's numbers a C grade. The numbers show a 0.5% inflation. ❓Is that the lived reality of the vast masses of people? 👉 Former CEA, Arvind Subramanian, he has calculated that GDP figures offered by this government are at least 2.5% higher than the actual reality. 👉 If you look at 2024 numbers, the government calculates GDP using the production approach, and that's 9.2% GDP growth, but it's 47% higher than GDP calculated by another method called the expenditure method, which is 4.9%. Normally, both these numbers should match. But when there's such a severe mismatch, clearly something is wrong. 👉 In the first half, you had some record-breaking numbers saying that manufacturing grew at 8.4%. But if you look at the biggest component of manufacturing, the index of 8 core industries that grew by only 2.9%. ❓If the economy is doing so well, why is the rupee collapsing? 👉 The rupee has been the worst-performing currency in Asia against the dollar in the last one year. There should be a flood of investments coming to India if the economy had been growing at the pace they suggest. Instead, you see the reverse happening : 📉 Net FDI has become negative ✈️ Even Indians prefer to put their money overseas. Every year under the Modi government, 4000-5000 high-net-worth individuals, millionaires, are fleeing the country. : Chairperson AICC Research Department Rajeev Gowda ji

#WATCH | Delhi: BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari says, "Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the nation today. He had predicted chaos in India's economy, yet the latest figures prove that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the economy has only strengthened. Manufacturing has expanded by over 5.5%, and capital output has risen by 12%. Both the fiscal deficit and the current account deficit are under control. India's market capitalisation has crossed the $5 trillion mark; renewable and non-renewable energy production has increased, and India stands as the world's fastest-growing economy. This is not the first time this has happened; during the COVID-19 pandemic, Rahul Gandhi had predicted chaos, yet India emerged from it as the fastest-growing economy. Similarly, amidst the current global energy crisis, India has emerged as the fastest-growing energy economy. All this has been possible because, over the last twelve years under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, India has implemented structural reforms that have lifted 200 million people out of poverty and steered the economy toward the goal of a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. Whenever Rahul Gandhi envisions or hopes for anarchy, the people of the country stand rock-solid behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi, responding to Rahul Gandhi through economic performance, stability, and security. Rahul Gandhi has lost, while the nation has won." He further says, "Regarding the letter Jairam Ramesh wrote about SIR, even the Congress party itself is not taking it seriously. DK Shivakumar—the Congress Chief Minister of Karnataka—was the one who launched SIR in the state and became its brand ambassador there. The reality is that during every election season, the Congress party seeks excuses to mask the repeated electoral failures of the Gandhi-Vadra family. Sometimes they blame EVMs, sometimes they allege vote theft, and at other times, they raise issues like SIR..."

Congress seems to be the unhappiest when India makes progress. Its latest target is the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project. This is not just another infrastructure project. It is a transformative investment in India’s future. The India-Japan partnership remains firmly committed to operationalising the corridor at the earliest. While Japan’s advanced E10 Shinkansen trains are expected in the early 2030s, both countries have pragmatically agreed that services will begin with Indian-developed high-speed trainsets instead of waiting. The message is clear: deliver results first, while simultaneously building India’s indigenous high-speed rail capabilities. The benefits are immense: • It will connect India’s financial capital, Mumbai, with one of its fastest-growing commercial hubs, Ahmedabad, in a fraction of the current travel time. • Cities like Surat, the world’s diamond processing capital, and Vapi, a major industrial and chemical manufacturing hub, will be seamlessly integrated into a high-speed economic corridor. • Travel time will be cut by over four hours, making business travel, investment, tourism and regional connectivity far more efficient. • The project will strengthen manufacturing, create skilled jobs, enhance logistics and accelerate economic integration across one of India’s most productive regions. This is what nation-building looks like: combining global partnerships with Indian innovation, ensuring world-class infrastructure while strengthening domestic technological capability. Which raises a simple question: when a project promises faster connectivity, stronger economic growth, more jobs, and greater self-reliance, why is Congress so determined to ridicule it? Time and again, Congress has chosen to oppose transformational infrastructure instead of supporting India’s growth story. The country deserves better than politics that seeks to undermine progress.
