Every coaching staff has had this conversation. More is Better vs. Less is More

The creative tension between these two philosophies is what makes a Coaching Staff really effective. If you're all in on minimalism, you can run out of answers. If you're all in on maximalism, you can lose your identity. It's "both/and" not "either/or"

Train your shooters on the same technology the top coaches use for player evaluation. #MakeMoreShots #WinMoreGames

I think you want it, as Homer Smith said, "spare yet simple." Many I know have this problem, which is why I designed the game board/ call sheet to limit to what is repped.

Totally true. What I learned from coaching w/ @SeanPayton on this though is that: off/pre-season we installed & taught “concepts”, in-season we installed & even invented plays around those concepts. Sean would sometimes put something new on gameplan, knowing there’s a good chance he wouldn’t get to it this week, but it would stay on gameplan until we called it. By 6-8 weeks later when he finally called it in game we had an off-season like arsenal of practice reps vs multiple carded & uncarded looks. So ultimately calling it on Sunday came down to 1) his feeling about our readiness to execute it at our standard & 2) his feeling of anticipation & confidence in predicting what the defense was going to do when he called it. He’s the best intuitive Gameday offensive play caller I’ve ever been with or gone against.

I love Parcells

Impose your will on a defense by doing what you do best.
