About two weeks ago, I wrote this thread quoted below that detailed the beginning of the current conflict between the Muslim Arabs and the Jewish people in our land. But as I mentioned in this thread, did you know that it was the Arabs that wanted and encouraged the Jews to return to their homeland? Did you know there was an agreement between King Hussein and the Zionist Federation that even states so? Did you know that all the Arabs actually wanted was the lands of Jordan, Syria and Iraq, and NOT what is now Israel? Well there’s a short documentary that was put together by a group of Muslims where they talk about exactly what I wrote below, and detail exactly the facts below. They themselves acknowledge that this is our land and that there should never have been any wars waged against the Jews. How many thousands of Jewish, and Arab, lives were senselessly killed simply because Arab nationalists decided they in fact wanted it all after agreeing differently and getting what they actually wanted? What it shows why you simply cannot negotiate with Islamic terrorists.

I was asked by USA Today to respond to remarks made by Hasan Piker about Zionism. Piker claimed as follows: “Zionism is the ethnoreligious supremacist ideology that is exterminationist in principle, born out of the wrong assessment that this was a land without people for a people without land. It required the extermination of the indigenous population, and that's precisely what has happened since its inception. And its final iteration of that has been the Gaza genocide that we watched unfold.” You can call a blowtorch an avocado as many times as you want, but it still doesn’t have a seed, and it still isn’t green because it’s still just a blowtorch. The claim that Zionism is an exterminationist ideology is just as nonsensical as calling a blowtorch an avocado. The suggestion that Jews want to exterminate the Arabs who also live on the land is likewise, as it has always been, ludicrous and false. Zionism is a simple idea, which is that Jews have the same rights — not more rights, but also not fewer rights — than every other people on Earth have to sovereignty in their national homeland. So just as you might think that Bulgarians have the right to sovereignty in their homeland, Japanese people, Korean people, German people all have the right to sovereignty in their homeland, Zionism is just the idea that Jews should be treated the same. By the way, this is in the charter, the charter that is the foundation of the state of Israel. In that document, the word ‘extermination,’ of course, would never appear there, but anything that even remotely resembles that word or idea is foreign to any of the early laws or that document. In fact, the document says precisely the opposite. The document says that one of the purposes of the state of Israel is to allow Jews and Arabs alike to live in peace and to flourish together in the land of Israel. That's what the Declaration of Independence of the State of Israel says, and by the way, that's what the state of Israel has proven, more so than what it said in 1948, in the decades since.

As Arabs, we need to understand that Israel and the West are not our oppressors or enemies. We, Arabs, are our own worst enemies. We, Arabs, are our greatest oppressors. We, Arabs, have killed and oppressed a million times more of our people than the West and Israel can ever do. It is not Israel that married off my mother when she was a child. It is my people who did. It is not the West or Israel that has been bombing Yemen for the past decade and killed 400,000. It is us, Arabs, who did it. It is not the Israel that implanted Islamic extremism in the East and the West. It is our mosques, it is the books we worship, it is the Imams we follow, it is what we learn and what we teach. It is not the West that forces us to treat women like commodities. It is our people. And most of all, it is not the West or Israel that doesn’t value Arab lives. It is us, Arabs, who do not value human life. If we do not admit to ourselves that WE are the problem, that WE are refusing to progress, and that WE need to change – then change will never happen, blood will keep flowing, and we will never know peace. How do we expect the world and the International Community to respect us, when we don’t respect ourselves?

Oh, this scene from Exodus is so moving partly because it remains so relevant. Made in 1960, set in the 1948 war, it’s about the establishment of the state of Israel. We meet Holocaust survivors imprisoned in Cyprus by Brits, the rows between the Jewish groups over how to get the Brits out and the start of the war between Arabs and Jews which all too sadly - 80 years on - is as present today as it was then: ‘I swear that the day will come, when Arab and Jew will share, in a peaceful life, this land that they have always shared in death.’

Let me tell you a little bit about Rawan Osman روان عثمان She is a Syrian-Lebanese woman who grew up in Lebanon. She actually used to be a fan of Hezbollah in her teenage years. But when she moved to Europe and lived amongst Jewish people and got to know what we are really about, she realized that in the Arab World, people are brainwashed. That the wars we’ve all lived through could have been avoided had the Arabs accepted to share land with the Jewish People who are indigenous to the so-called Middle East. Before Oct. 7, she was building bridges between Arabs and Israelis by inviting Arabs to join educational programs on the Holocaust. After October 7, she switched to full-on fighter mode and became vocal on social media. She launched ArabsAsk to counter Hamas’s propaganda and even though she’s at the beginning of this journey, she is still labeled a traitor or a far right activist. She is neither of those things. What she is is an independent thinker, brave, outspoken and honest. Only with people of sound minds like her, who are brave enough to withstand the mob mentality of radical Islamic fundamentalists who don’t even know they’re being brainwashed - or who are fine with it - will we even achieve peace between Arabs and Jews, and will the world defeat Radical Islam. When I say that I have hope, it is because of people like Rawan.
