🚨 SCIENTISTS HAVE FOUND COMPLEX ORGANIC MOLECULES INSIDE MATERIAL RETURNED FROM ASTEROID RYUGU. Researchers analyzing samples from Japan’s Hayabusa2 mission have identified unusually large carbon-rich compounds in the asteroid. These molecules are more complex than many previously found in meteorites and may preserve chemical clues from the early Solar System long before life existed on Earth. While this is not evidence of alien life, it shows that some of the building blocks associated with life’s chemistry were already forming in space billions of years ago. Why this matters: • It strengthens the idea that asteroids and comets could have delivered organic material to early Earth • It gives scientists a rare look at pristine chemistry from the birth of the Solar System • It helps us understand how complex molecules can form in space without biology • It has implications for the search for life on other planets and moons The deeper question: Did the ingredients for life originate on Earth… or were they seeded across the Solar System by asteroids like Ryugu? We’re now getting closer to answering that question with actual material collected from space rather than just meteorites that survived atmospheric entry. I can’t believe this is the Cockpit Country, one of the largest forested areas in Jamaica. This region is so rich in biodiversity that scientists are still discovering plants and animals new to science. We haven’t even fully assessed the area yet. I really wonder how our plants and animals are doing up there, especially after everything we’ve been seeing across the island.
