My grandma was a sharecropper her mama was a sharecropper and a slave. Here we are in 2025 and I’m still fighting the fight my ancestors taught for freedom. That is a very heavy burden and it’s tough living as a black man in a country your father fought for in Kuwait and grandfather fought for in Korea and Germany it’s just disgusting and tiresome.

It was so serious that companies like @Aetna @Humana @EmpireBCBS started off only insuring slaves for slave owners for under a dollar a month & $75 or more if something happens to the slave 🤦🏾‍♀️

More to her point focusing on percent of population distorts the issue because of variation in household size. If we just look at share of households in the Deep South that owned slaves we find that one third of them owned slaves. That presents a more accurate picture of slavery.
