everyone's drawn a URL shortener on a whiteboard. ever watched one DIE though built mine in breakscale (my system design simulator where the diagram actually RUNS). all good at 50 rps... crank it to 500 and the p99 just explodes lmao then cache + load balancer + replicas and... show more

this is really cool. seems like a potentially great whiteboard for interviews too... have you thought about adding that in later?

What actually do you need in specific? Real time collaboration?

i'm not really sure, i'd have to spend more time playing with it. i've just run many remote system design interviews with candidates awkwardly drawing diagrams on static boards, and think this has a ton of potential to be better for that. multiplayer would probably be minimum

i think probably also some way for the interviewer to set up predefined services, performance characteristics, load scenarios, etc. like imagine an interview where you're designing around a chunky sink that has to batch requests. the ability to set that up ahead of time, etc

Thats a good idea

Amazing

yay thanks

One of the finest projects I have seen , like this is really cool 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Bro is always built different

this is so cool

Hey, please add a lot of challenges!, and please make the challenge wait a bit before completion, maybe after meeting the requirements at least 5 or 10 seconds.

Yeah im doing that rn..

Good Job, my friend 🔥

yes, my friend :)

holeee shit :) good one :)

once the diagram runs, load can falsify the assumptions between the boxes.

crazy bro 🔥🔥

less goooo boii

just carzy bhaiiii

This looks fantastic, super slick

Crazyyy

Do you have shareable links or templates? That would be great.

yeah both actually! there's a share button that puts the whole design in the url, so you can just send someone a link and they open the exact system you built, nothing server side. and there's 23 examples built in (retry storms, cache stampedes, sharding etc) under the menu, each one set up to break in a specific way so you can load it and poke at it.

@erayajk the links are too long, can you shorten them?

@erayajk Yeah, working on it.

@erayajk (was a joke in case it wasn’t obvious)

@erayajk 😭😭😭no but it really gets long when you have a lot of nodes Im dicussing the problem in the repo in a issue

@erayajk look into lz-string

@erayajk Will do thanks :)

Crazzy

great work

This is amazing! Great job

I think my design can take a few inspirations from yours

this is really cool !

Lad's here with another banger project , great work Yash

:) always

crazyy

Crazyyyy bhai..🔥🔥

so cool

This is awesome

Crazyy, you can include some design solutions as example , also there should be docs to explain each component and where to use it for beginners

For simulation - what algorithms you used... I'm curious.

I’ve seen similar issues at high traffic spikes with my own projects, scaling is no joke
