“linearize any system around an equilibrium and you get dx/dt = Ax” makes it less magical :)

had some thoughts, but they were also just simple harmonic oscillations

Some things are a little more complex, but still harmonically oscillating. Now imagine harmonic Bloch wall oscillations which lead to a coherent current of electrons in phase. Magnetic Experiments & work of John Searl:

because it's just a term for "constrained cycles", which constitutes the primary building block for any coherent process, which can then become a component of more complex cyclic dynamics...

It’s the nature of differential equations. The solutions are usually exponential or sinusoidal. Because only for those functions is y’ = y or y’’ = y etc.

i got up to basic calculus physics(kinetics, light, electricity, something else maybe???) and we did everything using triangles so i just assume everything is triangles.

and the governing equations of motion are always the 2nd order linear differential equations

Profilbild von Go

The reason is so simple In real world you can only have 2 state Equilibrium state vs Non equilibrium state The most generic form of equilibrium is not static , so it must be oscillating hence linearity
