Five years of Taliban rule have pushed Afghanistan to the brink of collapse. This is not Gaza under bombardment or Ukraine under missile and drone attacks. This is Afghanistan—where thousands of young men and families are fleeing because repression, economic hardship, and the loss of hope have left them believing they have no future at home. In these videos are former soldiers, doctors, engineers, skilled workers, students, and young families. Many know they may be shot at borders, detained, abused, deported, or even drown on the journey toward Europe. Yet they still leave, because they see no path to a life of dignity under Taliban rule. As long as the Taliban remain in power, Afghanistan will continue to produce mass displacement, fuel regional instability, and create conditions that can threaten international security. If Europe and the international community want to reduce irregular migration from Afghanistan, they must address its root cause—not just its consequences. The root cause is Taliban rule. The Afghan people do not want to live as refugees. We want to live, work, and build our future in our own country. Western politicians, based on a secret and shameful deal in Doha, have sold the present and future of Afghan women into the hands of that wild group that cannot be compared to the animals of the forest too! In our culture treating a woman like this would result in death, but now this is happening on the streets of my country, because Afghans have already been sold by so-called human rights organizations, and Afghan men are silent because of the fear of death unfortunately 😡 But I am optimistic that Afghan women will definitely one day take revenge for their humiliation from their internal and external enemies. This path is difficult but not impossible!

That’s how long millions of Afghan girls and women have been waiting, for classrooms to reopen, for workplaces to welcome them back, for their dreams to breathe again. I was one of the lucky ones. I had the chance to learn, work, grow, be independent, and make choices about my own life; like any human being should. But I often think: this could have been the story of countless other Afghan girls if only they had been given the same opportunities. Education and work are not privileges, they are basic human rights. Until every girl in Afghanistan can study and work freely, the world will continue to miss out on their talent, ideas, and contributions. In just a few years, Afghanistan has lost what took two decades to achieve, especially for women. Decades of progress have been rolled back, taking with them the voices, dreams, and potential of millions. Today marks four years since Afghanistan changed in a way that put the future of its girls and women on hold. I stand in solidarity with them - those whose dreams have been taken away entirely.

Jets reportedly can be heard along the border as Pakistan begins to strike Afghan posts and groupings of forces. Clashes renewed in response to a Pakistani strike on the 22 that Afghan officials said killed a number of civilians. More to come.
