I’m honestly so disappointed in how some Rwandans are behaving towards this woman who went to represent our country at Miss Universe. She’s there carrying our flag, doing something no one else has done before and instead of supporting her, people are busy judging and saying, “We have many beautiful girls in Rwanda.” But those same girls never went to represent us. She did. Despite having Canadian nationality and so many other achievements, she still chose to stand for Rwanda. That’s something to be proud of, not to criticize. It really hurts to see how some of us act online instead of celebrating her for putting Rwanda on the world stage, we bring her down. Honestly, this is not right. She deserves our support, our pride, and our respect.

I understand where Machu's mother is coming from. I also understand that she wishes for nothing but a bright, happy future for her daughter, someone so special that she works hard to give her everything she needs to fulfill her dreams and pursue a proper career. But this isn't what Machu wants. Not all kids have the same goals. Machu doesn't want to become a doctor or an engineer. She's a simple minded girl who wants to go to Earth and live under a real sky. She wants to feel what it's like to swim in the ocean. And maybe that's why she wants to become a jellyfish.. because they're free, and she's caged. Her mother needs to understand that, but unfortunately, she cares more about society than what her daughter wants. She's a good mother, but she needs to try to understand her daughter and what she really wants. Society will always judge you no matter what, anyway. To hell with society and social standards. “need to do better for myself 💛” This video does absolutely nothing for me. Call me heartless, call me a bitch, say whatever you want. But the voice cracks and watering eyes do nothing. We’ve seen and heard this before. It’s part of her pattern. Everything she said in this video are things we’ve BEEN saying for a year now. It’s proven that she stalks our tweets. She saw that people weren’t taking well to her planning to speak out on depression and anxiety, so she stole our tweets because she knows what we say is right and that’s the only thing she has going for her — stealing our words and making them her own. Experiencing grief at such a young age is not something that is easy to navigate, in fact you never fully heal from it.
