BREAKING: Elon Musk says SpaceX and Tesla data, could make Grok excellent at real-world engineering. “We've got a real opportunity with the SpaceX training data and maybe with the Tesla training data to make AI extremely capable in real-world engineering. No one has yet made AI excellent at real-world engineering. And I think that's an opportunity for Grok using the training data from SpaceX and Tesla.”

I love people outside of software engineering making websites, it makes me so excited for the future Hank Green made this site to see the timeline of the Artemis II mission and being able to filter by a bunch of options and it's excellent

Been asked what's the difference between Brilliant & Paper and why either would be chosen over Figma. I'll start by saying Paper is an excellent tool and a great choice (not trying to be politically correct, but genuine appreciation for their craft and effort. Building a design tool is extremely hard). Figma obviously set the standard. It's the most impressive web project ever built and a marvel of engineering. Seriously one of the most impressive engineering efforts in history. That said, here's the difference:

Elon Musk descibes Grok 4.7 as a solid world class model but probably not at the level of Opus 5.5 as it stands. He credits this mostly to Anthropic being at it for six years while xAI have only been doing AI for three years. He believes they will catchup to frontier models sometime next year. While other companies have been excellent at software engineering, the area xAI will have an advantage in is real world engineering with the training data from SpaceX and Tesla.

CPU Cores, Cachelines, and False Sharing Have you ever heard of "False Sharing"? A performance issue arising when independent variables end up in the same cache line and are being updated by respective threads in parallel. Each CPU core update causes a forceful flushing of the cache line for other cores - even though the variables aren't shared! Check the kernel documentation on this topic, too. There is an excellent video showing this in more detail and a fantastic blog article from Netflix Engineering showing how this impacted production - an excellent case study.

The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is an excellent piece of engineering, but due to our inconsistent policies and the limited market above ₹20 lakh, India will likely never see such a car. Salute to the Hyundai Group, a giant global brand that continues to take India seriously against all odds. No one else does. They all are waiting things to happen.

With VW cars, it is not about power figures, looks and solid build alone. When you own them, you keep finding subtle qualities and keep appreciating the engineering. Precise braking & excellent control after that, is one of that features. There is a reason that VAG has set some benchmarks in passenger cars segment and many are second close, but haven’t toppled VAG yet.

Many times I say ‘perfect exterior precision build quality’. This is what I mean. Tight & consistent panel gaps, excellent rubber beading quality & uniformity, edges, less welding spots on door frames, and overall paint quality. It takes decades to master this level of quality even in your entry level car and hence the extra cost of engineering & finesse. Car in the video, Skoda Kylaq

🚨🌎 Climate Change Scam & Climate Engineering Excellent Video. “The Vortex splits, weakens and cold air spills South - the Jet-stream isn’t smooth anymore” “The alter the atmosphere composition and react electrically” “HAARP - We know these facilities exist, we know they’re capabilities and we know they’re active” “There is chemical ice nucleation - a well documented effect” (This explains all the giant abnormal oversized hail videos) ‼️

Cloud agents keep working while you go get pizza. “It has done excellent work across six different repositories, fixing quite a big issue in our system.” Dhravya Shah from supermemory gave Vorflux three engineering tasks before heading out to eat. He came back to changes and a migration file ready to review and run. The same approach helps Supermemory build and maintain SDKs for more agent frameworks, keeping that work moving while the team focuses on its core product.

I'm an engineer. I used to think sales was dirty. Cold calls, pushy tactics, all of it. The product should speak for itself. Running Socket changed my mind. I actually like sales now. Done well, sales is consultative. You help people understand a problem that matters, you're honest about where your product is strong and where it isn't, and you optimize for fit. That's not in tension with the engineering mindset. It's an extension of it. There are two ways to die as a company. Build a technically excellent product that nobody cares about. Or put sales in charge, underinvest in engineering, grow fast, and hit a ceiling when customers realize the product hasn't improved in five years. We've watched competitors do the second. The job is to keep engineering and sales both strong, and never let one dominate the other. I joined Anne Dwane on the Village Global podcast to talk about this, plus where Socket is today and why open source supply chain risk keeps getting worse. Full episode in the comments.

Maybe you missed this excellent $TSLA Cybertruck review. Maybe you only saw a short clip from it. Or maybe you're just opposed to using YouTube. Whatever your reason, if you haven't seen the whole 📐 video, I highly recommend it, if you're interested in learning more about the engineering under the hood. I mean "motorized frunk". 🤓 Link, for those who prefer youtube: Credits: Hagerty owns this video, Jason Cammisa is your host, and racing legend Randy Pobst is a heck of a good sport, as usual, in a Guest starring role. Enjoy!

CONGRESS HAD A UFO HEARING TODAY A former Pentagon UFO investigator confirmed that The Pentagon has been running a program on crash recovery and reverse engineering of UAPs for decades. (UAP=Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon) They've been doing this WITHOUT CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT! They also frustratingly refuse to give any specifics in a public hearing. Representative Nancy Mace gave the excellent statement that pretty much sums up the entire hearing: "I would like to know how much taxpayers are spending on this. We have the right to know. And also if we are spending money on something that doesn't exist, why are we spending money and if it does exist why are we hiding it from the public? What do we think? Is this legit or is this just another black budget government program used for money laundering? I'm leaning toward the latter.
