The cool thing about local-first web apps is you don't have to choose anymore, which was one of the goals for Thymer: real-time collaboration, E2EE sync, and web access, while your data also lives locally and the app works offline. That means tools like Claude (or local LLMs) can get fast access to your workspace data. There's already an MCP plugin and here's a quick prototype where Claude Code talks directly to offline workspace data stored in the browser DB.

Quick demo of Zero’s new background queries. Zero’s sync is query-based. Rather than specifying what data you want using rules or some other separate system, you just use queries. Right inside the client app, you do a query using a full sql-style language. You get filters, subqueries , limits, etc. Zero syncs the data backing these queries to the client. It’s important to realize Zero isn’t really a cache. It’s a replica. It’s eagerly replicating a precise snapshot of a slice of your database - the slice covered by the queries you have open. So there is never stale data in Zero. When you close a query we delete the rows uniquely returned by that query because we can no longer keep them up to date. Of course that kind of sucks for the common case of doing a query, navigating, then pressing “back”. Ideally we want that back nav to be fast. To address this Zero 0.17 adds background queries. You can add a ttl to a query and it will keep running and syncing in the background. This is much different than normal caching because this data stays up to date. If you make the same query again, the results will be *instantly* available *and already up to date with server*. If you make a different query the data from the background query is used client-side to answer the new query instantly if possible. This all happens completely automatically. Just by adding the ttl flag.

Spent the last few days vibe coding on my NVIDIA DGX Spark. Here's what I learned. Qwen 3.5 122B took one minute and nine seconds to respond "Hi how are you doing". Unusable for vibe coding. Gemma 4 was fast but built a dot instead of a first person shooter game. GPT-OSS 120B was the sweet spot. Fast, capable, and actually produced working HTML. Open source models running locally are not replacing Claude Opus 4.6 or Codex with GPT 5.4. Not even close. But they're getting better every month. The new DGX Spark Bench is live on Real-world benchmarks for local models on local hardware. This is just the start. Full video below.

Announcing Innovative Dreams, a new production company by Luma and Wonder Project built by filmmakers for filmmakers, and our first production — Moses starring Sir Ben Kingsley, coming this Spring on Prime Video. AI is a fundamental change to the craft and business of filmmaking, and through ID, we are building a new production process for this era — one that brings Humans and AI together to enable great storytelling. Innovative Dreams is a production services company where seasoned filmmakers from Director Jon Erwin's team and Luma's creative technologists work with great studios and filmmakers to help them realize ambitious ideas. This is a significant improvement over the current virtual production and performance capture processes where things come together only in post.
