So getting a lot of questions on how the pre sale will work for the Prediction market DAO. It will be invite only at first, we are raising a low amount of SOL, and giving away a LOW amount of tokens. New PNAS paper. Historical GDP per capita data is scarce, but data on the places of birth, death, and occupations of famous individuals is abundant. In this paper we estimate the historical GDP per capita of hundreds of regions in Europe and North America using a machine learning model that leveraged data on about 500k famous biographies. Our estimates more-or-less quadruple the availability of historical GDP per capita estimates for the last 700 years. So why use biographies to augment historical GDP per capita data? Biographical data contains information about people who might have contributed directly to economic growth, like James Watt, or that were attracted to wealthy places looking for patrons, like Michelangelo. So we--mainly Philipp (Philipp Koch)--used this data to construct hundreds of features describing each European region. Then, we trained a machine learning model to find the features that explained most of the variance in a cross-validation test, where we split regions multiple times into a training set and a test set. On average, the model explained about 90% of the variance in GDP per capita of the regions it had not seen during training. But we wanted to go further, and Philipp really went to town by looking at different ways to validate our estimates. We found our estimates correlate positively with historical measures of wellbeing, church building activity, urbanization, and body height. We also used these measures to reproduce the basic Atlantic trade result of Acemoglu, Johnson, and Robison and to explore the economic consequences of the famous Lisbon earthquake of 1755. But what I personally loved most about this project, other than working with Philipp Koch and V, is that it shows that we can use machine learning methods not only to explore the future, but the past. In a country like Bharat, where we have such a massive treasure of names, we are somehow running after "trending" sounds we find on social media. Did you know that in our traditions whether it is Sanatan, Buddhist, Jain, or Sikh every single name is chosen with a "mangal kamna" (a good wish) for the child? We have the Shatnam (100 names), Sahastranam (1,000 names), and even the Ayutnam (10,000 names) for our deities. For example, Lord Shiv has a collection of 10,000 names, and Radha Devi has the Ashtadash-Shatnam with 1,800 beautiful names. You can find hundreds of these collections just on websites like Sanskrit Documents. But look at what’s happening now. Even highly educated people folks coming out of IIT Delhi or top IIMs are picking names like "Reeyan" just because they saw it on an Instagram reel. We are ready to spend thousands on a grand naming ceremony, give a heavy "dakshina" to the pandit, hire the best photographers, and decorate the whole house. But when it comes to the most important part the name itself we won't even spend 300-400 rupees to buy a proper dictionary or take five minutes to research the actual meaning. It feels like we’ve become so busy with the "show-off" part that we’ve completely ignored the depth of our culture. A name is a life-long identity, not a 15-second trend. What do you think? “how does writing from kind of a vampire’s perspective challenge you, as opposed to writing something from your perspective, if that makes sense?” 🦮 we’re in comic-con right now talking about the dark moon. we started that since our debut, and we built that kind of its own fandom base. and, like, it’s so cool to see now because to be 100% honest, we didn’t know that it would be like this when we started it. but like you said, it might be challenging to kind of all thread that together in one album, have that vampire-like story also. but we think of it as like a benefit almost because we know that there’s people… there’s a huge fandom around vampires itself, and we’re very lucky that we built the space around that world that we’re able to kind of talk about it in our album as well. and overall, i think it’s just new ways or ne doors that can be opened into this big kind of thing that we build. yeah, not just our album, not just us, but also just enhypen itself. 🦮 some people might just listen to our music, and they might just like listening to music, that might be it. but some people might really enjoy the vampire aspects of the album. there’s different types of people that can just come together into one album. i think it is challenging at times to time, but we think of it as just another factor that can be used as a benefit.

There are no “shared values” between peoples that can be appealed to, which produce a harmonious culture. You cannot treat Islam, Hinduism, or Sikhism like Protestantism and Catholicism. We should not have to forfeit parts of our national identity to encompass its antonyms. We shouldn’t shy away from saying that anything outside the bounds of our traditions should not be here.
