Argentina was one of the richest and freest countries in the world, then it started down a path of huge government intrusion. The media said Milei can't fix it. But he explained the measures to be taken and how much government spending needed to be reduced. A politician who told the truth. He won the elections, did what he promised and he was right: Milei's big cuts worked. He fixed the economy. And now Javier Milei is inspiring the whole world showing that his libertarian policies are working. He has shown that cuts are possible, and still gaining popularity. Freedom can work. MILEI: SWAP IS NO DEBT FOR ARGENTINA, NOR THE U.S. -Milei: The swap is intended to provide Argentina with the financing to honor its debt, but the U.S. Treasury showed that the support goes beyond that, because it also bought pesos on the foreign exchange market. -Journalist: Some Americans wonder, why are our tax-dollars going to Argentina? -Milei: Firstly, just as the swap does not increase Argentina's debt, it does not increase the U.S. debt either. It is a currency exchange. On the other hand, it is normal practice for Central Banks to buy currencies from other countries to build up reserves, even to buy government securities. Therefore it is nothing that is not within the logic of what a Central Bank does. And if you see that some assets are very cheap, such as the Argentine peso, or the Argentine Government bond-positions, well it is a good opportunity and that's what Treasury Secretary Bessent said.
