Europe's future depends on partnering with Africa Africa could soon dwarf Europe in global influence, making deeper cooperation essential for Europe's future, according to Carsten Boyer Thogersen, former consul general of Denmark in China's Shanghai and Guangzhou. He describes that while Europe has shrunk from 25% to just 8% of the world's population, Africa has surged to over one-sixth, creating a demographic powerhouse on Europe's doorstep. Yet European leaders haven't even begun serious discussions about building partnerships with this increasingly vital neighbor.

Nigeria-China Rail Partnership Delivers New Trains for Lagos Lagos has taken a major step toward modern public transport with the delivery of new trains for the Red Line. This is what value-aligned partnerships can look like. Through its cooperation with China, Nigeria’s commercial capital and one of West Africa’s biggest economic centers is investing in infrastructure that addresses the real needs of its people, economy, and future. For African cities, partnerships should not be about development, infrastructure, productivity, and shared growth. This Nigeria-China deal is an important example of that.

Prof. David Monyae: South Africa🇿🇦 cooperates with everyone, while standing STRONG on the Global South position advanced by BRICS 'Recently South African Defence Force generals have been discussing with their counterparts in Moscow to find ways of continued cooperation on a number of areas including naval drills. How FOCAC helped reshape Africa's economic narrative The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) has played a crucial role in transforming Africa's economic prospects, according to Liu Hongwu, director of the Institute of African Studies at Zhejiang Normal University. Liu highlights how FOCAC, established in 2000, coincided with a dramatic shift in Africa's economic fortunes. He notes that Africa's GDP surged from $600 billion to over $2 trillion between 2000 and 2010, dubbed "Africa's Golden Decade." Liu attributes this growth mainly to China-Africa trade, which saw double-digit annual increases.

The United States says the African Union's presence at G20 proceedings under its presidency will ensure that African countries are well represented. Washington has reiterated its stance on snubbing South Africa, and Pretoria delegates were not invited to some of the first diplomatic engagements in December. Former diplomat and International Relations expert Dr Kingsley Makhubela says it is unfortunate that the US has taken a unilateral decision to exclude South Africa, since it is the biggest economy in Africa. Why the West overlooks China's cooperation blueprint The West is making a critical mistake by overlooking China's global initiatives that offer solutions for international cooperation, says Carsten Boyer Thogersen, former consul general of Denmark in China's Shanghai and Guangzhou. He warns that today's confrontational atmosphere has corrupted logical discourse, leading to widespread misinformation in discussions about China. Thogersen points to the Belt and Road Initiative's 12-year track record of concrete partnerships as proof that China's peace-focused visions deliver real results when given attention.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Representative in South Africa, Dr Max Gomera, reflected on global economic disparities, noting that while some parts of the world have driverless cars, many Africans still lack access to affordable cooking technology. He emphasised the importance of solving basic African problems through technology, adding that the companies which focus on addressing Africa’s challenges are the ones that will ultimately succeed in Africa. He answers the problem why Africa is behind technologically, and what needs to be done.

Africa is the future! Today I am making a historic visit to Zambia, at the invitation of my dear friend, President Hakainde Hichilema. I am very pleased to make this reciprocal visit, just two years after his important visit to Israel. The State of Israel always believed in Africa and attaches great importance to expanding cooperation in the fields of trade, agriculture, innovation, science and technology across Africa, addressing the shared challenges of water and food security, and widening the circle of nations committed to working together for the benefit of all humanity. I am so glad to be in Zambia which is a leader in these areas across the continent, serving as a significant source of regional cooperation and a vision of sustainable growth, innovation, and hope for a better future. 🇮🇱🇿🇲
