Minister of Justice Sean Fraser was asked about Bill C-9 today and the possibility of the amendment to strip the Criminal Code of the protection for free religious speech in Canada. For the record, here is his full statement. While we appreciate that Minister Fraser thinks that the amendment to strip the good-faith religious text exemption will have no real implication on religious and individual freedom, we respectfully disagree. Among other factors, there would be no reason to strip the exemption at all in the first place if doing so had zero effect of the Criminal Code. We need more consultation on Bill C-9. All Canadians and concerned communities must be heard. We must protect freedom and free expression.

But how does he plan to do that when his anti-development laws, taxes, and policies that block Canadian energy and critical mineral exports, remain in place? Mark Carney cannot double non-US energy exports until he repeals the Shipping Ban, Bill C-48, that blocks exports to Asia.
