Free speech is a core value of our civilization. We need to stop Bill C-9. This bill is designed to limit your speech by labeling you as an Islamophobe or racist without any specific definition. We don’t lack laws in Canada. If the authorities do not enforce the existing laws against jihadists, and if the RCMP and CSIS receive advice from Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups, it does not mean that a new law will stop the hate rallies and the glorification of terrorism in our streets. If Bill C-9 passes, I can say: welcome to the Islamic Republic of Canada.

Minister of Justice Sean Fraser was asked about Bill C-9 today and the possibility of the amendment to strip the Criminal Code of the protection for free religious speech in Canada. For the record, here is his full statement. While we appreciate that Minister Fraser thinks that the amendment to strip the good-faith religious text exemption will have no real implication on religious and individual freedom, we respectfully disagree. Among other factors, there would be no reason to strip the exemption at all in the first place if doing so had zero effect of the Criminal Code. We need more consultation on Bill C-9. All Canadians and concerned communities must be heard. We must protect freedom and free expression.

On November 7, 2025, NDP MP Leah Gazan defended her push to criminalize so-called residential school “denialism.” Her original Bill C-413 did not pass. Then she came back with Bill C-254. That bill would amend the Criminal Code for statements about residential schools that politicians decide are “condoning,” “denying,” “downplaying,” “justifying,” or “misrepresenting facts.” Ask questions, you get attacked. Demand evidence, and they want the Criminal Code dragged into it. Canada was told 215 bodies were found at Kamloops. Years later, we are told about anomalies. But instead of proving the claim with evidence, the political class wants to punish people for questioning the narrative. Residential schools were real. Abuse was real. But asking for proof of a specific public claim is not hate. It is the bare minimum in a country that still pretends facts matter.

The impacts of this legislation will be felt across rural Canada, where population density, connectivity, and digital infrastructure differ significantly from urban centres. Rushing a bill that shapes how Canadians’ data is accessed and managed is a mistake. We do not need to trade liberty for security. We can, and must, protect both.

Last night, Mark Carney announced that Canada will somehow double its non-US exports. But how does he plan to do that when his anti-development laws, taxes, and policies that block Canadian energy and critical mineral exports, remain in place? Mark Carney cannot double non-US energy exports until he repeals the Shipping Ban, Bill C-48, that blocks exports to Asia. Not until he scraps C-50, the so-called “Just Transition” bill that kills energy export jobs, and not until he greenlights a West-to-East pipeline to get Canadian energy to Europe. Until then, all of this is just more Liberal empty promises and rhetoric.
