A government at war with its own peace minister isn’t a government ready for dialogue with any armed group. And the U.S. government’s decades old policy of sidelining Amhara interest is at the root cause of the current #WarOnAmhara so stop blaming Fanos for the lack of dialogue and do some self reflection on your misguided policies on #Ethiopia.

Civilian protection and humanitarian access are not negotiable. They are sacrosanct pillars of any credible path to peace. Several false narratives must be addressed. The claim that Sudan opposes a ceasefire or truce is simply untrue. We support ceasefires, but a truce cannot be an end in itself or exist in a vacuum. It must form part of a comprehensive peace framework. The first step must be the withdrawal of militias and mercenaries, followed by their relocation to designated camps. Equally false is the narrative that this is merely a war between two generals. This conflict is far more complex and involves external interests operating within Sudan. Another misconception is that Sudan is governed by Islamists. We do not mix politics with religion, and such characterizations do not reflect the reality of the Sudanese state. The future of Sudan must be determined by Sudanese citizens through a Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue leading to free and fair elections monitored nationally, regionally, and internationally. The Sudanese people alone have the right to choose their leaders. This Peace Initiative has received broad international support, including from the United Nations Secretary-General, key bodies of the UN General Assembly, the African Union, specialized UN agencies, the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Muslim World League, and the Vatican under His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.
