They are the only species of snake protected by law in Zimbabwe. KiIIing one can result in a jail sentence and a fine. When you encounter a python, treat it with respect because, aside from the legal consequences, a large python can inflict serious injuri€s that may require hospital treatment. They bite only in self-defense and have multiple rows of super-sharp, curved teeth that can cut the skin like a knif€ and cause serious bIeeding. They are capable of cutting arteries and nerves. Pythons just want to be left alone. What does it feel like now? Not quite relief. Not quite pride. Feels more like standing at the edge of something you’ve created, knowing it will now have a life of its own.
