Ever since the time of Raj Thackeray, it has often been the case in Maharashtra that people from UP and Bihar can only live or work there if they know Marathi; however, this rule is completely wrong. Marathi is not so essential for earning a livelihood or living that people should be driven out of their jobs because of it.

The policy is flawed. In a cosmopolitan city like Mumbai, how many passengers actually need the language mandate.

Its never the action but the intent ....Hindi is a common language used in Mumbai and passengers who know only mararthi is not a common occurrence. Communication has never been a problem in Mumbai , only petty politics is.

But this trand is not good if all states start impose their language on other states people then how can other states people work in different different states?? BJP should think twice before impose this kind of rules.
