Fallout 1 + 2 hypothetical remakes: should they be turn-based isometric-style like Wasteland 3 or Baldur's Gate 3? Or RPG-styled shooters? Rand says shooter, I say CRPG. 🤔

Given the scale of locations across Fallout 1 or 2 as well as how you traverse them, it's difficult to imagine them doing a traditional on-foot open world game. I say CRPG. Fallout is big enough to try it, the roots are there, and it's probably a co-development partnership just waiting to happen.

I literally don’t think there has ever been a better time for an isometric Fallout remake BG3 and to a lesser degree Wasteland 3 changed mass gamers perception of what these types of games could be. If they don’t capitalize on it soon I think it’s a big missed opportunity

I still don't like the idea of Xbox studios basically becoming IP sweatshops, but I would agree with you Jez that anything pre-3 would need to be done as CRPG-style Not just fatigue would be an issue, but complexity as well. Fallout 2 spans parts of 3 states, for example

@WinC_Gaming I agree with both takes but I do lean more towards your take Jez. I think that with Obsidian and Bethesda making RPG Shooters (at least that’s what’s assumed) and the 2 remakes, having an isometric Fallout may help the franchise not feel so same-y

CRPG please! Fallout 1/2 were some of my earliest and fondest memories, would love to see remakes of them that states true to their original style.

Inxile already has good experience with CRPGs. They could do a great job remaking them Baludrs Gate style

Crpg market is wide open with Larian being the only AAA Crpg dev who just had a mega hit, no big company capitalising on that is either terrible business or laziness/lack of talent in the ability to make such a game. A triple A isometric fallout would make so much money

In an era of wanting sales you cant do CRPG’s Baldurs Gate 3 outlier success has warped people’s minds into the success of this genre

I often agree more with Rand but he is wrong on this one. He says BG3 is outlier which is a fair argument but I would argue that Fallout 1 & 2 can easily be another outlier. Fallout going back to its roots would be huge in Fallout community.

Depends on the budget. If they have a lower budget and aren't expecting huge sales numbers do the CRPG. If it's has a large budget and they want a return on that, they need it to be a shooter.

Shooter because that’s what I want. If I wanted a CRPG I’d just play the originals. Remaster them for those that want traditional gameplay. Then remake for the modern style of Fallout game.

Super hot take, I don’t think they should make a fallout for the exact reason you stated. We already have TWO studios making fallout. If Clockwork is good give me another one of those. Or let them try their hand at TES. I don’t want 3 studios working on fallout
