JUST IN: The fan who was involved in an altercation with Pittsburgh Steelers receiver DK Metcalf has released a statement after being accused of racism. NBC reports a source close to Metcalf says the man called him "something we both know you don’t call a Black man." The fan, Ryan Kennedy, who was also accused of calling Metcalf's mom a derogatory word, has since responded to allegations through a lawyer. "Ryan Kennedy categorically denies using the "N-word," the "C-word," or any racial, misogynistic, or hate-based slur..." the letter read. "These allegations are completely false." In the winter of 1994 I partied hard in Hillbrow, Johannesburg. As I waited for my law school results, I knew I had failed and made peace with that, Hence being there every weekend. @therealvinnydavinci was a resident at Arena nightclub in Highpoint and I became an instant fan. He knew my favourite tunes, and would rock them whenever he saw me near the DJ box I relocated to Johannesburg in January 1995. Little did I know that we would become friends and business partners on #FreshHouseFlava. THIS record playing, we picked up in Miami when we were there for the winter music conference in 2001. That trip became funny when vinny lost his passport, and stayed in bed for two days coz he was frustrated 🤣😂😅🥹 CHRISTOS KATSAITIS forced him out of bed and they travelled to D. train station in Nantes opened in 2020 with no air conditioning. The design promised it would regulate its own temperature in extreme heat. Six years later, when it's 26°C outside, it's 32°C inside. They're bolting on giant fans to fix it. The building has large glass walls. That's the whole problem in one sentence. Glass admits solar radiation, traps the heat inside (the greenhouse effect, the same physics that warms your car in a parking lot), and a structure with big glazed facades facing the sun will get hotter than the air outside no matter what the design brief promised. You cannot passively "self-regulate" your way out of solar gain through that much glass during a heatwave. Physics doesn't read the architectural statement. I (Skander Garroum) wrote an essay a while back about Europe's strange denial around air conditioning, the cultural conviction that AC is an American excess Europeans are too virtuous to need. This station is that denial poured into concrete and glass. The intention was admirable: build a station that stays comfortable without the energy cost of mechanical cooling. The execution ignored that the building's own form (sun-facing glass, an open hall) made passive cooling impossible from day one. The deeper issue is that Europe is designing buildings for a climate that no longer exists. The Nantes station was conceived when European summers were milder and a heatwave was a rare event. The thermal model assumed a cooler baseline. Then the baseline moved. Summers that used to peak in the low 30s now push higher and last longer. A sneak peak to our project that happened earlier ✨ We've been gatekeeping this for a month to make it extra meaningful. Now we are happy to share with you this special fan project of ours for Fyang. The sleepless nights and endless planning for the perfect execution finally came to life. This project doesn’t mean to brag but to showcase our genuine love and support for Fyang, no matter how hard it is and how much effort it requires. Focus on things you can control: Concentrate your efforts on aspects of your role that you can influence or control, especially as you advance in your career. b. Always embrace change: As an IC PM, you experience rapid change. It’s important that as you get to mid/senior level, you never stop looking for ways to improve. c. How you see yourself: Cultivate a positive and growth-oriented mindset about yourself and your capabilities. 7. Three core competencies to focus on when transitioning into PM roles are (1) data, (2) design/research, and (3) technology. Someone from a design background should focus on strengthening data or tech skills to complement their existing expertise. This conversation took place yesterday, between Col. Gilad Shriki, commander of the Valley Brigade, and members of one of the Palestinian shepherd communities in the northern Valley. Shriki knows exactly what he's talking about. He is responsible on the ground for carrying out the orders of the echelon above him, Brigadier General Oren Simkha, the commander of Central Command Major General Avi Bluth, and with the highest military authority, the Chief of Staff, Major General Eyal Zamir. When Shriki tells members of another community - the day will not be far when the Civil Administration will destroy the compound, here too, he knows what he is talking about. Shriki, like all of us, knows that the head of the Civil Administration, Brigadier General Hisham Ibrahim, is carrying out the orders of Minister Smotrich and he has already made his goal clear more than once - as much territory with as few Palestinians as possible. Everyone in the chain of execution of the orders is "just carrying out orders." But Shriki's smile betrays his mind and intentions. How can I help you? He asks with sweet lips. I don't want there to be clashes, I know this is your territory and I will make sure there are no clashes. He said this sentence to the community that is being attacked with severe violence by Settlers who come every night and throw large stones into houses, break solar panels, destroy the local school and all this in front of the eyes of the soldiers who sit in the nearby military base. Needless to say, there are no Jewish detainees, ever. There are Palestinian detainees, every day, Col. Shriki "takes care" of you... Hello, how long have you lived here?
