Fantastic performance from Robby Ahlstrom as he pitched 1.1 scoreless innings in his major league debut. Ahlstrom struck out 2 and picked up right where he left off in Round Rock. Ahlstrom is a great development story as the Rangers have shifted his positioning on the rubber, and gave... show more

Robby Ahlstrom is very quickly becoming one of the more reliable arms in the Rangers bullpen. Opponents are batting just .167 and slugging .222 on his four-seam fastball, and his 2.8% barrel% would be nearly the best in MLB if he qualified in innings. Ahlstrom is truly a great development story, and has now allowed 0 runs in his last 13 appearances.

Emiliano Teodo really seems to be putting it all together again. After putting up a 2.38 ERA for the month of June, Teodo now has back-to-back scoreless outings to start the month of July. Teodo pitched 1 inning tonight, allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 walk, and struck out the side on 26 pitches. The Rangers have been working with Teodo throughout the season to fine tune his delivery, and he really seems to be reaping the rewards right now. He’s catching seams really well again which has led to his sinker getting back to that crazy arm-side run he became known for. I’m not going to go as far as making a declaration that he’ll see a call up soon since I feel like a lot of people, myself included at times, can get a little too caught up in the mindset of wanting a prospect to be promoted whenever they’re on a strong run of form. Teodo is in a groove right now, and he’s just got to keep doing what he’s doing and everything will work out in due time.

"I think he'll really thrive in this offense and really open up a lot of different things and give him a lot more opportunities where he doesn't have to put the team on his back" #Commanders GM Adam Peters on Jayden Daniels entering year 3 with a new offensive coordinator

He moved to the ST kitts and Nevis Patriots in the CPL last season and picked up 13 wickets at an Eco rate of 7.80. He has also had a great year as a bowler in T 20 I cricket, picking up 31 wickets at an Eco rate of 8.6. The IPL is not an easy tournament and Jason hasn’t found his best in the tournament since his SRH days. Where is he headed for a fresh beginning this auction?

KIRSTEN WATSON: To see where Hyeseong Kim’s bat is at right now, compared to last year, how different is he? DAVE ROBERTS: He’s a confident player right now. Everyone knows how funny he is to be around and how he loves to play the game and he’s a great defender. But right now I think his swing’s in a great place. The hitting guys have been working real hard with him. He’s put in a lot of work. This is going to be his last Cactus League game. He’s going to leave us to go with Team South Korea. So we’re going to miss him, but hopefully he just keeps doing what he’s doing and we’ll see him in a few weeks. 🎥: SportsNet LA

🎙️Is Arda Güler your successor? And what do you think of his season so far? 🗣️Toni Kroos: “I was lucky to play with him for a year as well. People keep asking me if he’s my successor and how I see his performances this season at Real. I’m really happy that this year he’s finally getting a lot more playing time. I think he’s definitely a player you can build on for the future. I don’t really like to make comparisons – Arda is a different type of player than I am. His best position is clearly more attacking, so it’s not really about being a successor. But overall, I’m just really happy for him. He’s a great guy, and as I said, I played with him – he’s got such a fantastic touch on the ball, and he’s shown that several times already this season for Real. I just hope he keeps getting regular minutes, because that’s the only way to keep improving. And if he does, I’m sure he can have a long and successful career at Real.” • Toni Kroos Legend. 👑🇩🇪

The Maytag! Jack Dreyer made his debut, and, in no surprise, he cruised right through it. Dreyer was signed as an undrafted free agent due to Tommy John and shoulder surgeries at Iowa, and he has absolutely dominated since he hit the ground running in 2023 in affiliated baseball. His K% in 2023 was 34.8% in 2023 with High A Great Lakes, it was 29.9% in AA Tulsa last year, and 31.7% in AAA OKC. His ERA at the Minor League level has been 2.20, his WHIP has been just 0.99 As a show of how valuable he is viewed, Dreyer was put on the 40-man roster this off-season to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. Nicest guy you'll ever meet off the field, and the most competitive athlete you'll ever see on. Stay tuned, this dude is the real deal. #dodgers

Carl Bernstein on CNN right now: Multiple sources tell him that there have been at least 15 occasions in the last year and a half “where the president has appeared like he did at that horror show (his debate performance).” Bernstein reports that in the last six months sources have told him that there has been a marked incidence of cognitive decline. He says that his sources have gone to Ron Klain in the last year to express concern about the President losing his train of thought and not having the ability to pick up where he left off. Bernstein mentions a fundraiser at the Four Seasons restaurant in New York in June of 2023 where the President became “Very stiff…almost like a kind of rigor mortis.” Bernstein notes that he has heard from sources that Biden is very sharp in his national security briefings and that he has full command of the facts.

Brett Wichrowski Brett Wichrowski Acquired: 2023 13th round selection Measurables: 6’2”, 177 lbs, 21 years old Cliff Notes: The Brewers picked the Junior out of Bryant who had steadily improved over his NCAA career last year. By his junior campaign, Wichrowski posted a 4.50 ERA and 64 Ks/25 BBs in 50 innings pitched. He also has steadily added velocity in his offseasons (with Baseball Performance Center), which he showed off in the Spring Breakout series sitting 99 mph. In the Spring Breakout game he went 2 IP with zero earned & one strikeout plus in his outing in Big League Camp he went one scoreless, facing three batters with a K. His mix appears to have a 4-seam and 2-seam fastball with secondary offerings of a cutter, slider, and change-up. All look relatively effective playing off his fastballs, with the cutter jumping out of his hand and slider/change-up being effective enough off of his velocity. With his experience in NCAA baseball, the New England Collegiate Baseball League and the Cape Cod League, I would not be surprised if the Brewers start him in at least A ball. Wichrowski played three seasons at Bryant where he progressed as one would expect. His sophomore campaign was across 38 innings where he posted a 5.21 ERA, 37 Ks, and a high 30 BBs. His Junior season he demonstrated serious improvements, giving up less earned runs on average as well as upping his K rate while decreasing his BB rate. He rode that good season into being a Brewers Draft Pick. I look forward to seeing how the Brewers deploy the righty in the minors. As mentioned above, in the Spring Breakout game he was topping out at 99 mph. He uses that speed when throwing both of his fastballs, while his cutter is about 10 mph slower and effectively horizontally cuts due to his excellent extension. His slider is another nice option for glove-side movement, while he continues to work on his change up. His college walk rates/WHIP are something that are of concern, but more time in the Brewers organization should help him control his offerings better. His multiple plus offerings give Wichrowski a great chance to be an MLB contributor as long as he can improve control (which he showed in his Spring Breakout & Spring Training outings) He is definitely a guy to keep an eye on in 2024 and I could see him gaining transaction on some prospect lists. Larry Wheels SAYS Sam Sulek could WIN the Arnold Classic in a few years after placing 8th in his PRO DEBUT this year 😳🏆 “Sam has great genes and great work ethic. He’s going to do great. I think within a couple of years he has what it takes to maybe win the Arnold.” “The Arnold is giving him a lot of support because they want to see Sam win. He’s a star, and his conditioning shows he’s really putting the work in.”

Congrats to Ethan Lund for making his College Baseball debut, and in a HUGE spot. Things weren't perfect for the 6'6 Freshman from Fishers, Indiana, but he flashed some really good stuff from the left side. This dude has great stuff, is super competitive, is already hitting in the 94 range, is 6'6, and has a big future! His coaches showed a lot of confidence in him by putting him in the position he is in today. Valuable experience! #GoPokes #OkState

I really rate this from Ange Postecoglou. He’s had success over 25 years, playing with a style that he believes in at his core. That success is what took him to Celtic and then to Tottenham, if he gave up on it, what was the point in the first place?

Cooper Flagg on playing alongside D’Angelo Russell and what he’s learned from him: “He’s been an incredible influence so far of just setting the tone at a really high level. Ever since he’s come in and been around, he’s just been setting examples and just being a real role model. Just playing really hard and just playing really smart as well. He sees the game at a different level, so I think I can just learn a lot from him in the way he’s able to pick apart defenses and just use his vision to our advantage.” Russell finished with five assists in his Mavs debut, and his passing was elite.
