And if he survives and returns, he will lead the nation once more. Either way, Imran Khan has already won. The military has already lost.

The High Court, our judge, our lawyers went in, and we are laypersons. We really don’t have to understand everything; we are not legal people. But the courtroom was full, and we all saw how well Imran Khan’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, was handling the case. He basically laid out the case clearly. The prosecutor was making arguments that were embarrassing, even for the judge to hear. Imran Khan should have been granted bail at that time. But that court, under orders, dismissed the bail. As a result, our lawyers went to the Supreme Court. And yesterday morning, not as we would have expected, we really didn’t anticipate even this, the Supreme Court was so embarrassed by the merits of the case that the Chief Justice, before even hearing the bail application, said to both the prosecutor and our lawyer: 'I will not hear this case on merit.'"
