People high in the Dark Triad traits of narcissism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism are often superficially appealing. If someone seems too charming or magnetic, that can be a red flag. One study showed participants emotional facial expressions and asked which seemed most authentic. The researchers had already measured the Dark Triad scores of the people in the photos. Strikingly, participants rated those high in Dark Triad traits as the most genuine. In other words, the least authentic people were seen as the most authentic. That’s because these individuals often know how to manipulate appearances. They study which expressions seem sincere and exaggerate them to win people over. In interviews, some psychopaths describe realizing early on that they didn’t feel emotions like others. To compensate, they mimicked emotions they saw in movies—watching an actor cry, then practicing the expression in front of a mirror. Actors already exaggerate for the camera. So when a psychopath imitates that performance, they’re exaggerating an exaggeration. Their emotional displays become hyper-real, and that may be why they seem especially convincing. If someone’s personality feels too strong, too instantly likable, it’s worth being cautious. Charm can be a mask.

Going through my phones archives and I ran across these 2 clips. I have seen quite a few drama series, Turkish and non. I can honestly say that you don’t find actors like Halil and Sila that can make you feel a character’s emotions the way they do. Look at the amazing chemistry they have and how they are portraying the characters emotions. Not everyone can pull this off like Sila and Halil pulled it off. And they have done it consistently for the last 4 years, but nothing compares to the energy we feel when they are playing together. And I am confident one day we will see them in same project again. It is inevitable. #HalilİbrahimCeyhan #SılaTürkoğlu #KaraSevda A never ending love story 😉

Look around you and see how people react. How they talk, how they look at you, how they judge you, what they do. Do they look at themselves, do they start to criticise other people? “Look around and you're going to learn the environment and the people that you have around you. “I cannot be prouder to work in a club with people that the only thing they could do is ask, what else can I do to help? “When you have people like this, I don't know if it's gonna take another week or two, but something good it will happen at the end because we deserve it.”

This happened in Monroe, Louisiana. A man rolls up on his E- bike at Lowe’s store in outside garden. He grabs something (I don’t know what it is) and he’s getting ready to take off. Just another day in Monroe. This gentleman walks up and says something to him, probably to the tune of like why are you stealing? The guy on the bike seems to get upset. The man turns and walks away. I like how the other guy passes by, looks over and just keeps on walking. 🙄 Many people said they don’t understand why people would put themselves in harms way over a Fortune 500 company, they aren’t struggling they said and they have insurance. And others said they understood because of this economy and the times we are in. 😳 But a lot of others said this is one of the reasons our prices keep going up and it is not okay to justify stealing because of the economy. A Lowe’s employee said there is so much theft that it affects their livelihood, it affects their bonuses. What do you think? Is it worth confronting someone if you notice they are stealing from a store? Or should you just mind your own business and keep on walking?

If you’ve never been played because of your emotions, maybe that’s the only reason you can so easily call Araga names. Araga came into this house and chose his people genuinely. Unfortunately, it’s becoming clearer that some of the people he chose may not have chosen him back in the same way. He spoke about his dreams, his ambitions and the life he wants beyond this house. And watching someone he considers one of his closest people react so conspicuously to those dreams? That tells its own story. You can joke about him being a “houseboy.” You can reduce his feelings to entertainment. But some of us understand what it feels like to genuinely choose someone, only to realise they were never choosing you with the same sincerity. One day, Big Brother will end and real life will begin. Times Radio Interviewer (Daniel Finkelstein Daniel Finkelstein): Can I use this with reference to the interview that I did yesterday with my brother? My brother’s a professor at City University; he’s president of the university, and there’s a campaign at the moment going on against one of their professors who was in the Israeli Defense Forces in the 1980s. We were having a discussion about how the university was standing up for the free speech of its staff, and I’d begun to wonder, as I went home reading your book on the tube, whether I’d made a big mistake—because the protest against this professor is really just a coordination exercise, isn’t it? And maybe I’d aided it by talking about it. Me: Oh yes—protests are coordination exercises. They’re designed to make private knowledge common knowledge. So, in a repressive regime, everyone may know that they despise the government, but because criticism of the government is punished, people might keep their opinions to themselves, with a result that they really don’t know what their fellow citizens think. Each one might think that they’re the only ones that are disgruntled, and so they can’t fear standing up to—they fear standing up to oppose the regime, because they can be picked off one at a time. If everyone were to protest at once, no government has the firepower to intimidate all its citizens at once. In a public protest, people can see other people there, and they know that the people there see other people there, and that can give them the strength and numbers to oppose the regime—sometimes by literally storming the palace, or sometimes just bringing the machinery of the state to a halt through work stoppages. But the crucial thing is that they are coordinated. They can only be coordinated if everyone knows that everyone knows that they hate the regime. We’re all much more aware of what other people like us, in particular like us, know, and we also know that other people know it, and so on, as you put it, and that makes people have more common knowledge. Me: Social media are making us more connected within certain circles—that is, those who are receiving the same texts and feeds that we are.
