Actress Olivia Colman has spoken candidly about her enduring relationship with the queer community, and how she came to learn more about trans people. Speaking to Them alongside Hyde, Colman, 52, reflected on how she stepped into the role of Hannah who, while not queer herself, is on the periphery of queerness due to her relationship with her father and child. “I think it’s a community that I love being welcomed into. I find the most loving and the most beautiful stories are from that community. And I feel really honoured to be welcomed. Throughout my whole life, I’ve had arguments with people where I’ve always felt sort of non-binary,” she explained. “I’ve never felt massively feminine in my being female. I’ve always described myself to my husband as a gay man. And he goes, ‘Yeah, I get that’ And so I do feel at home and at ease. I feel like I have a foot in various camps. I know many people who do. I don’t really spend an awful lot of time with people who are very staunchly heterosexual.”

In this Korty’s interview with Asake, this part stood out for me. Asake, while prompting his car’s voice assistant to play him one of his songs, first spoke with a slight accent. But the voice assistant couldn’t understand him and he quickly switched to his original, African self. This, coupled with the usage of the Yoruba language in the interview, shows that to cement your place in the world and get the admiration of the entire world, you must be your original self. This is one of the best interviews I’ve seen and I encourage everyone to go see it as well. God bless all the creatives behind this.

Some people see a man being very cruel to a young boy here. That's not what I see. Achilles just taught this young boy something important. Something most people never learn. They never have anyone to tell them. ACHILLES TOLD HIM. Sure, it hurts to hear the truth, many times. I was at today’s meeting and want to echo Ashley’s post: I was told an interview with CEO Ian Choudri would not be possible *if* it touched at all on the circumstances surrounding his arrest and leave of absence. To be clear, Choudri was not charged, and the board later cleared him to return. But I felt I still had to ask about the situation and whether it served as a distraction for the project. In fairness to the HSR comms team who have been very communicative, an interview with Choudri was offered to me — but limited strictly to the project itself. As a journalist, it is a tough spot to be in. Our coverage will stay focused on the business plan, but I wanted to share this context.
