Feature lists are the worst way to compare anything. "Having something" doesn't mean it's the right version of the thing, the useful implementation of the thing, or the convenient variation of the thing. For example, watch this video...

Yes, but communicating a "point of view" or "product values" or whatever you want to call them if your customer doesn't have a relationship with you yet is tricky too. How do you position your product that way when you haven't had the chance to build trust yet?

That's what a point of view is about. Competing on features/checkboxes is a losing battle. It flattens and tries to equalize things that aren't equal or flat. Instead, relate to your customers. Explain your product in a way that addresses their struggles directly using language they'd use. Make them feel like they'd want to do business with you.

This. This is very true and almost a proof of why taste matters. Sadly, customers sometimes use these comparison lists as a way to make their own decisions.

Hey Jason, great explanation with simple examples. I am working on an idea for a startup and looking for advice from entrepreneurs like you, do you think you could help me answer some questions?

I thought about this as well. • top of funnel will be consumed by LLMs • middle will be more important Comparison sites (3rd parties) lean into this but the checkbox list can be improved. I’m planning on using jtbd and tie it to the core categories of a business (e.g. cac, ltv)
