Unlike federal workers, our federal contractors — that includes food service workers and janitorial staff who keep Congress running - did not receive back pay after the government shutdown ended. Ms. Willie has been a federal contractor for 44 years at the Library of Congress. During the shutdown she and her fellow UNITE HERE members joined me for lunch at my office. They missed paychecks during Republicans' government shutdown & had to find other ways to keep her bills paid. I'm fighting for our workers to get the back pay they deserve, and my Fair Pay for Federal Contractors Act would do just that. Congress should pass our bill immediately.

40 days ago Republicans put this exact plan on the table. Open the government, pass the appropriation bills, and hold a health care vote. Democrats refused and dragged out a 41 day shutdown that accomplished nothing. This shutdown was pointless and it hurt federal workers and SNAP families.
