If Congress does nothing, within five years college sports will become a mini-NFL of 30 to 50 major football programs. Women’s and Olympic sports will be gone from campuses across the country. My bipartisan Protect College Sports Act will stop that from happening.

Some are claiming this bill overrides state laws protecting women’s sports. It does not. I drafted this legislation to preserve those laws, not weaken them. It leaves Title IX untouched and does nothing to disturb the 27 state laws protecting women’s sports. Meanwhile, schools are already eliminating women’s and Olympic sports programs as college athletics descends further into chaos. This bill protects women’s sports, protects 500,000 college athletes, and brings order back to college athletics. That’s why it should pass.
