James Franklin just shared advice that every offensive coordinator needs to hear: " You have to have enough flexibility within your system to take advantage of the personnel you have. I think that's one of the big things that is a little bit of an interview answer that I think most coaches miss on. Every coach says, 'we're gonna run a system to take advantage of our personnel,' but they don't really do that. They're an 11 personnel team and he's gonna wanna stay in 11 personnel. The second tight end may be better than the third receiver. Bu they don't wanna be in 12 personnel, so they stay in 11. You gotta have enough flexibility within your system."

Texas A&M HC Mike Elko - Building Defensive IQ for Winning Situational Football "It starts to me with you have to develop football 101 in your defense. You've got to take a step back & you've got to build some level of general football knowledge in your defensive unit. It's sometimes the things that can save you when you don't call the perfect defense/scheme. Down & Distance Understanding... 2nd & 7+ - We have won 1st down... The offense is now trying to get themselves back in favorable positions for 3rd down. Here the battle is for half the yardage. - Offensively you will see a lot of RPOs, Quick Game, Screen & Draw. This is not a down where you will see a lot of high risk types of offensive plays. - Defensively we play this down & distance like a 3rd down off 1/2 the yardage... (2nd & 8 is like 3rd & 4, 2nd & 14 is like 3rd & 7) 2nd & 4-6 - We have lost 1st down. Now we must make a play on 2nd down to try to re-create an advantage for 3rd down. Success on this down is similar to 1st & 10. We are looking to hold them to 3 or less. - This is a down where the offense usually sticks to their strengths. Again, they are looking for a low risk play that will keep the chains moving forward. - For us we call this D&D no different than 1st down. 2nd & 1-3 (Waste) - Thus for the offense is known as a waste down. This is a D&D where the offense is likely to take a deep shot because they are in a favorable position for 3rd down. - Offenses will try double moves & max protection shot plays a lot on this D&D - For us on defense, this is a big zone pressure down. Gives us a chance to create a negative play and regain the advantage on the sticks. Also closes the middle of the field to protect us on the shot plays.

The 4-2-3-1 is a formation every pro uses in EA FC 24! 👍 It’s the most balanced formation in the game, giving you a solid defence and dynamic attack options with the 3 CAM's. Always have fast fullbacks and a strong core of players to get the most out of your formation! 👏

Today, we defend against hundreds and hundreds of attack drones every day, and thousands and thousands every week and every month. Ukraine’s defense sector is building that capability even in the middle of a full-scale war. We also maintain a high interception rate against cruise missiles, thanks to the way we have built our air defense – and thanks to the support of all our partners who continue to provide Ukraine with defense assistance. I have a question for you – Do you really believe it would be RIGHT to leave outside NATO a country and a people with this level of defensive capability? From a speech at the NATO Defense Industry Forum. (2/5)

Kentucky HC Will Stein - Red Zone & Coming Out Philosophy Red Zone - "A little bit more specific in terms of the plays we're going to run. We don't run some of our plays in the red zone out in the field." - "There is an identity, you definitely have to find out where the defense changes. Is it +30 or +25 where they heat you up. Your call sheet has to resemble what the defense does. So there is a little blend of we do what we do, but we have to know what they do & attack it." Coming Out Philosophy - 2 first downs to change the field - TD to change the game - Freeze to create a free 5 or take a shot - "If they don't jump I'll still probably take a shot and see if we can change the field quickly. - Quick game = no throws into the core of the defense. More out breakers. - Movement Passes - 6 designed coming out plays that are repped week to week.

Richard Sherman asked Mike Vrabel about the Pats defense and taking some other team's castoffs and "breathing new life into them" Vrabel: "Well it's a testament to them ... They take the coaching, they take the hard coaching, they take the constant coaching. We tell them we're going to coach the hell out of them Monday-Saturday, then Sunday is their day to go play and let it loose and they have. We have a lot of guys that have taken advantage of opportunities, when you do that you earn more opportunities. We got great leadership at all 3 levels of the defense, I'm proud the way their play. Sometimes we give up the first drive of the game, then we go 3 & out for 6 more series, so they learn quickly and adjust."

Cutthroat 5v5, 4v4 This is a really fast and chaotic game that we got from Team USA. Our team loves it because you have to talk the entire time even when your team is off the floor. Start with 3 or 4 teams: ●One team starts on offense. ●One team starts on defense. ●One or two teams are waiting on the baseline. - Play one possession. -If the offense scores: They stay on offense and earn 1 point. The defense sprints off, and the next team comes on defense. -If the defense gets a stop: They immediately transition to offense. The offense sprints off, and the next team comes on. -The game never stops, so players have to communicate, transition quickly, and be ready to play the second they step on the floor. It’s a great way to create game-like chaos, teach communication, and get players competing at a high pace. Rules: 1. When you score, you must thank the passer. 2. When you pass, you must cut 3. You can limit the amount of dribbles 4. You can say that you must have a paint touch first 5. 10 second shot clock 6. Jump balls always go to defense 7. Defense must talk the entire possession or they get off. 8. Defense has to call the score out when they come on the floor. 9. If the defense gets a live ball turnover above the NBA line they can go score it and get an automatic win.

Breaking: Reawaken America Accountability is the foundation of the Republic. Without accountability, you do not have a Constitution. Without accountability, you do not have justice. You have a system of men protecting themselves. Without accountability, you do not have a nation of laws. You have a Nation of men who will use their offices to destroy anyone who stands in their way. This is the essential requirement of free government. The Founders understood this truth, and that is why they built the entire system on the principle that no man is above the law. We have watched that principle be shattered. Men in government used their authority to spy on Americans, to prosecute the innocent, to destroy families, and to silence dissent. They have faced no consequences. They have been protected by the very system that should have held them accountable. Every official who abused their power must answer for it. Every agency that was weaponized must be gutted. Every person who participated in the cover-up must face justice. Without accountability, the Republic dies.

Win the next game one possession at a time. You have to move on from adversity, and you have to move on from success. In a game, you are going to have a lot of both. The people who can focus on winning the next play have a better chance of winning the game.

It forces defenses to play assignment football 5. Opponents have hard time emulating in practice 6. It controls random blitzing 7. Simple blocking schemes 8. Fun to practice 9. Can use Multiple formations to run same plays 10. Easy to use audibles to attack the weaknesses of defenses

Rich Paul believes Giannis can win a championship in Miami because they have a strong system: “Giannis will win a championship as the biggest name in a system like Miami if they’re able to get the right pieces… The Miami Heat system is the triangle effect 2.0. When you play in the Heat system, don’t you realize all those guys who come out of the Heat system, they’re different out of the Heat system? — if the Heat can somehow construct the right guys around Giannis and Bam, it’s a team game. As long as Giannis is able too make the right reads in real time… Defensively forget about it. They have on of the best defensive lineups right now.” (Via Game Over)
