Fiber IS THE LONGEVITY HACK Nothing drives me crazier than people worrying about cold plunges, grounding mats, fasting windows, red light therapy, & blue light blockers for longevity but they don’t even eat enough fiber. You are stepping over $100 bills to pick up pennies A new ENORMOUS review...

Fiber is Overrated! So Dr Shawn Baker 🌱 says fiber is overrated. What exactly about fiber is overrated? Is it the fact that it significantly increases longevity, reduces the risk of cancer, and cardiovascular disease in studies involving MILLIONS of total participants (PMIDs: 38011755, 35918724, & 37854351)? Is it the fact that it significantly reduces the risk of colon cancer (PMID: 34854791) Maybe it’s overrated because it helps you poop (PMID: 23326148) Shawn says that it’s just a waste that you flush down the toilet, but only insoluble fiber is not absorbed. And that can be a good thing because it helps with gut transit time, & eliminating stool in a timely fashion may actually help prevent GI inflammation & help eliminate potentially carcinogenic compounds produced as byproducts of digestion But soluble fiber doesn’t just have digestive benefits, it has metabolic benefits. Soluble fiber can be fermented by the gut microbiota to form short chain fatty acids like butyrate & propionate which can be absorbed into circulation & appear to have a myriad of benefits including improved insulin sensitivity & metabolic health (PMIDs: 35807739 & 3115666) I guess I”m confused about why any of this is overrated? Can you imagine if red meat had this kind of data? People like Shawn would absolutely lose their mind at the idea of anyone questioning the benefits, but since it doesn’t fit his bias he will never acknowledge the data fairly. And to be clear, I am not anti-meat at all. I’ve had my share of debates with vegans but I’m just not willing to buy into crazy nonsense like fiber being overrated Tired of feeling so confused by all the conflicting messages out there? “Butter is called butter because of butyrate!” No, it’s not. @drstevengundry is wrong… AGAIN as per usual 1) Butter is not named after butyrate The word butter comes from the Greek boutyron (“cow cheese”). Butter did not get its name because of its butyrate content. 2) Butter contains very little butyrate Butter is only 3–4% butyric acid by weight of its fat, meaning you get very small amounts relative to the calories (mostly saturated fat). It is a terrible butyrate strategy compared to dietary fiber. 3) The butyrate your colon uses comes from FIBER – not butter This is the key point Gundry gets completely wrong. Your gut bacteria turn dietary fiber into short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs): acetate, propionate, butyrate. That’s where the vast majority of your colonic butyrate comes from. Verified human data: • Fiber fermentation by gut bacteria is the primary source of SCFAs, including butyrate. PMID: 38436734 • Butyrate is the preferred fuel of colonocytes and plays major roles in gut barrier function, inflammation, and colon health. PMID: 10736623 • SCFAs produced from fiber have protective roles in metabolic health and colon health. PMID: 31126110 • Higher dietary fiber → greater SCFA (including butyrate) production. PMID: 11427691 • Most U.S. adults do not meet recommended fiber intake. PMID: 36627816 4) Colon cancer isn’t rising because people “don’t eat butter.” There is zero evidence for that claim. If anything, low fiber intake (and therefore low SCFA production) is the real issue—since Americans chronically under-consume fiber. Bottom line: Butter is fine in moderation. But pretending it’s a colon-healing, cancer-preventing “butyrate superfood” is pseudoscience. If you actually want to increase butyrate production? Eat more fiber. Your colon will thank you.

"Meat Contains Every Nutrient We Need In Its Proper Form & Without Any Anti-Nutrients To Interfere." Dr Georgia Ede, MD If You Look At What Is Inside Animal Foods, You Will Find All Essential Nutrients. You Can't Say That Of Any Plant Food. There's Not A Plant Food On Earth That Provides All Essential Nutrients. Animal foods can. Meat, seafood & poultry contain every nutrient we need. What about fiber? Fiber is not a nutrient. The Carnivore Diet is fiber free. Could you last on a true carnivore diet without getting gut microbiome issues? You need fiber right? Why? What does it do? It prevents glucose from going into the the blood or something? Where's the glucose coming from? Nutrition science has a lot of half truths. If you're eating a high carbohydrate diet, fiber can soften your glucose spikes. A more effective way to lower your glucose spikes is to NOT get a glucose spike in the first place. Fiber sweeps your colon clean of toxins? There's never been a study that demonstrates this. The intestines clean themselves. The epithelial lining sheds regularly, very frequently. Fiber is good for digestion? Fiber, by definition, is indigestible Fiber is essential to feed beneficial gut bacteria & promote regular bowel movements? There are papers claiming that butyrate from plant foods are required to feed good beneficial gut bacteria in order to have a healthy gut microbiome. We do need butyrate. The ketone, Beta Hydroxybutyrate, feeds the intestinal cells just as well. Beta Hydroxybutyrate, from animal foods, provides all the butyrate needed to maintain a healthy robust microbiome. Dr Georgia Ede is a Harvard trained, board certified psychiatrist specializing in nutritional & metabolic psychiatry: "In my research, I’ve yet to find a credible, plausible health argument against eating meat of any kind (including red meat, seafood & poultry)." "In fact, no other food group is nutritious enough, safe enough, or geographically accessible enough to recommend as the healthy foundation of the optimal human diet." "So if I could only afford to buy food from one food group, I’d prioritize meat." 👇Ketones Benefits To Epithelial Lining👇 👇Benefits Of Ketogenic Therapy👇 Speakers: Georgia Ede MD & Steven Bartlett Podcast: DiaryOfaCEO

Ultra Processed Foods Are Bad For You! But probably not for the reasons you think. There is little evidence to suggest that anything in the processing itself inherently makes the food toxic or unhealthy other than the fact that Ultra Processed Foods (UPFs) are incredibly tasty & have very little impact on satiety. In a classic study by Kevin Hall at the NIH, people were switched from an unprocessed diet to a diet of UPF & they spontaneously increased their caloric intake by over 500 calories PER DAY (PMID: 31105044). That is a massive increase in caloric consumption & we do know overconsuming too many calories leads to energy toxicity.. i.e obesity. Obesity increases the risk of mortality, heart disease, & many cancers by approx 20-200% depending upon the severity of obesity (PMIDs: 29490333, 37405977, & 29696630) That said, if you eat some UPFs as part of an overall healthy diet & you don’t gain too much body fat because you control your overall intake, there’s very little data to suggest they independently contribute to disease risk. That said, these foods are designed to get you to overeat. They are VERY hard to consume in moderation. I’m just cautious about telling people to completely abstain as for some people this has the opposite effect. They try to abstain from processed foods, but eventually they have a little & that leads to a spiral where they are binging & consuming copious amounts at one sitting As such, nutritional strategies need to be customized to the individual. For some people, a win may be turning down a doughnut. For others, it may be saying yes but just having ONE doughnut. There is no one right way to do things, it is based off of whatever allows the individual to be consistent with their nutrition & not get to an unhealthy body fat level From Andrew D. Mark Cuban: “A lot of data centers will be turned into pickleball courts.” Mark Cuban: “What's happening now is the market leaders, Google, Meta. etc, they're borrowing hundreds of billions of dollars. And there's already a private credit problem right now. Just layer on private credit, and then you have these huge companies that have cash flow, but they're spending all their cash flow on CapEx, and then they're borrowing on top of that. That's planning for perfection. And that's going to be hard. And we're building these data centers, and if there's a price-performance curve on AI that minimizes the power requirements, there's going to be a lot of data centers that are going to be turned into pickleball courts. Everybody thinks that there's going to be so much more utilization. And there will be. It'll just scale like everybody expects. But there's going to be technological breakthroughs as well. Just like we saw fiber back in the day, it was all about putting in fiber. Then it went from 1GB fiber, to 10GB, to 100GB, and then there wasn't a fiber problem anymore. There wasn't a bandwidth problem anymore.” @jason: “It was quite the opposite. We had dark fiber that people bought for pennies on the dollar.” Cuban: “Just sitting there, right? And how is it not going to be the case that we don't get the same price performance improvements on the AI side and on the data center side?” ------------------------------ Thanks to our partners for making this possible!
