Figma's surface area is expanding quickly. Please know we are working just as hard to make sure Figma's fundamentals are strong. One of our key principles is that Figma never gets in your way, so you can always stay in flow state. More on what we're up to in replies...

We want to make sure Figma feels fast, snappy and performs well wherever you are in the world. This isn’t always the case, especially with larger files. And last year, average file size increased by 18%!

Ongoing efforts include: - Optimizing large files for everyday actions like copy / paste, selecting layers, switching pages, panning and zooming - Decreasing our memory footprint so that you can continue to push your visual design without worrying about Figma slowing you down

- A re-architecture of our design systems architecture. This will allow faster instance updating, a more responsive editing experience and faster feature velocity. This is a big project and we're aiming to ship it early next year.

And of course we're always investigating performance reports. Sometimes we miss things. So if something is slow (especially small files), or if Figma isn't working as expected, please reach out via support. We want to get to the bottom of it and keep making Figma the best it can be.

Why do you guys always ignore interaction like it's not core functionality (maybe it isn't). Toos like Play are helping though I think interaction design should be core functionality if figma

Great If not taken care expanding surface area can start looking like a bloat and clutter I have been impressed till now with new features not feeling cluttery Hope you stay true to this path

We are doing our best every day! And I know the Figma community will hold us accountable. Designers are the best audience to build for — they don't hold back!

Thank you for taking perf issue seriously

Yes, the Figma portfolio has grown quite the bit, to remain flexible to diverse needs under a membership model similar to other design software brands. Aside from perf, I find a robust design system experience across products and for client lifecycle mgmt to be key. Thanks!

@zoink Good call to let everyone know you're still doubling down on the thing that works! Although I would argue that as long as the core is stable, you can experiment (many companies had failed experiments that didn't affect the core business)
