Greg Norman won. After the 1st round, where Norman bogeyed the final two holes at The Lakes and criticised the green/layout of the 17th, the press asked the President of the Australian PGA, Peter Thomson, if Norman should be fined....to which Thomson said 'there should be a society for the prevention of young golfers talking to the press after they have bogied the last two holes.' Touche Brian Jones lead from day 1, right through 68 holes and lost by 1 shot after several bogeys in the final round.

@AusOpenGolf The current interviews are banal beyond belief. 'Let's take a look at that eagle on 12, that must have felt good'. They don't even ask questions, just make statements to massage inflated egos so the golfers don't get upset or, heaven forfend, challenged.
@AusOpenGolf Golf was for the people. Now enough of the players seem to think it's all about them. If only prize money were split between performance and crowd engagement, as per suggestion from my man, Shooter, a while back.

@AusOpenGolf It's interesting one. Feel like media's been warned off from asking anything potentially negative that might inveigle minds like so many ear-worms. I reckon it's a reason slow play's got worse, because pros, understandably, don't like being critiqued by mug choppers with a mic.
