My #SundayShare is 2 v 1 practice looking at forward passing and movement to receive. A key task is off the ball movement - players must time their run to receive in the central channel (which defenders cannot enter) to progress to the final third. Coaching points: · Positioning to receive: ideally on the half turn. · Movement off the ball: looking for space and angles to receive. · Decision-making: timing of runs and the pass. · Technique – weight of pass; also angle. · Creativity: core moves, especially blind side runs, diagonal run/straight ball and vice versa. 2v2 Score Game! All players start at the 10. Coach throws the ball into 1 of the offensive players. Ball carrier must touch the 20y line then they can score. Offensive player without the ball has to touch the hash or sideline before they can block. Defenders mirror the offense. If you’re on the ball carrier side you have to touch the end zone. Blocker side defender must touch the same time hash or sideline. Sometimes I’m not a fan of 2v2+ drills as there’s too much info to process, but this was a sweet spot of action and reading + reacting. Good drill that’s gonna stay in the rotation for sure!
