Finally, an explanation that cuts through the noise: California isn't actually taxing its residents at the highest rates in the country, despite what you've heard. This is a perfect example to set the record straight. Stay informed. #DemsUnited

CA property tax rates are 1%. Texas is 1.63%. The Median Home Price (MHP) in CA is $800,000. $800,000 * 1% is $8,000, although it generally never goes up if you don’t move (Prop 13). The MHP in Texas is $336,000. 1.63% @ $5,475. Gas taxes are about $0.385 in TX per gallon and $0.89 in CA. Additionally CA reps add to the cost of refining gas, so the delta is even higher. Car registration in TX is under $100. In CA it averages $500. Once again, Newsom is a lying scumbag.

You’re an idiot. I moved to Florida for a few years.. I had more damn money left over on payday than I ever did see you unless you really live it you have no idea. Of course things are higher as far as what you use in the government. But if you don’t use the government, you got more money in your pocket bottom line. When they say California is the highest state for taxes in the USA they mean it. No tongue twister is going to change that. They don’t tax their lowest people because they’re illegal aliens. Wow, how does that grab you?

You all crack me up, something as simple as a list of numbers that would prove the point, a true apples to apples comparison. You show a bunch of articles that prove nothing other than he said she said garbage… And in the end, nothing yet proven…

But homes in Texas are about half the price of homes in California. He didn’t mention that.

Absolutely retarded take. I’ve lived in both Texas and California and this boob is totally wrong. A higher property tax RATE in Texas comes no where close to a higher property tax bill. And most lower income folks in California rent, so they are paying the landlords property tax indirectly. And rent is way more in California than Texas. And gasoline tax in California is ridiculous. Ditto for electricity. What garbage!🤡

So no matter how you spin it the price of gas in Texas is $3.89 a gallon. The price of gas in California is around eight dollars so you can spend California California is a better place. It’s a better place than Texas blah blah blah, but you can’t make the math work.

You’ve gotta remember all the highest paid people in California are leaving so who are they going after next the middle class oh that’s right they’ve already left too so it’ll be the low earners. Don’t be fooled. California sucks.

Progressive taxes are why places that offer jobs keep leaving California and go to places like Texas. At least in Texas people actually pay fairly across the board. California is taxing the hell out of the employers in their state while the bottom pays nothing or receives far more than they pay in all while democrats say that the rich don’t pay their fair share. People actually believe this on the state and federal level while the top pays nothing most of the taxes and the bottom 50 almost pay nothing.

Those “google results” come from propoganda. The lowest wage earners don’t own real estate dipshit!! Therefor they don’t pay property tax. I lived in Los Angeles for 8 years - everything cost twice as much in California and they have income tax while Texas doesn’t. Y’all are so dumb.

Newsom data is based on flawed assumptions, like using the same national median home price when calculating property taxes. If CA homes run 2x those in Texas, then the 2x property taxes in Texas means they both pay about the same in property taxes. But income taxes are 12% in CA vs 0% in TX. Sales taxes are the same, but fees, like for car registration renewals are more than 3x those in TX. Another consideration is that people in Texas can actually buy homes, thus owe property taxes, while fewer people in CA cannot afford to buy property.

Figures never lie but liars figure. Texas property RATES are nearly double. However, average homes are around 300k. California’s is close to 800,000. Which means, Californians pay more in property taxes. This is why we are getting your move-outs. Like you said just google it.

Property in taxes is probably a fraction of that in California so even if the percentage is more it probably ends up evening out. It’s hard to build anything in California especially compared to Texas. How many house have been rebuilt since the major fire that happened there. California also burns money on the homelessness that keeps getting worse. They do so much less with more money.

median sale price of a home 2026 Texas: $342,400 California: $855,300 Property is higher Texas yet still cheaper to live there. There are so many ways to crunch the numbers. If the state was run well what they say could be worth more but right now it’s all cheap talk.

This is awesome! Just stay in California, we don’t want you in Texas or Florida. BTW the key metric you are leaving out is that the majority of the lower income people DONT OWN PROPERTY. Moreover, you are quoting RATES, NOT THE ACTUAL DOLLAR SPEND. Just look at the average property VALUE…

Texas has no income tax and although the property tax is higher, CA median housing prices are 3x higher, so net taxes are inflated. Since states cannot run a deficit, we can just check spending/resident to determine cumulative taxation: TX: $10,024 per resident CA: $16,145 per resident CA taxes are much higher.

What about local taxes and gas tax alone will mae Texas look so much better. Everyone rich and poor pay for gas - same tax on same gallon of gas- way more affordable living in Texas - cut out that home prices are 1/2 of comparable home in CA . You’re the liar!

TX property taxes are ridiculous. The reason I head back east. Paying $8k a year for a home that was worth $185k is insane. Imagine paying your house off and then paying rent to the county. Every year, I have to prove my house is worth shit so I don't pay a higher tax. It’s crazy
