finally ported my fav Claude Code feature into Pi: `/subtask` a subtask is a fork of your current conversation, it inherits everything you've discussed, works in the background, and sends only its final answer back into the conversation that spawned it. Less context pollution/bloating and you can continue the...

Is that each stack can have different model, or just inherited from its parent?

inherited from parent but easy to change if needed

Erm. How different is that from using /tree really?

Фото профиля Victor M
Victor M2 месяцев назад

/tree is navigation. this spawns another Pi with a copy of your conversation that runs in the background while you keep working then reports back its final output

Well, I use sub sessions in piclaw that do the same without a sub process, and that fold back into tree

Фото профиля Victor M

i don’t know piclaw it’s probably prompted to know how to use Pi so that’s something else

I wrote it. The kind of session forking and folding you are describing does not need subprocesses, and can be built atop the session tree -

interesting I'll take a look if I can make this work inside the TUI and take a look at piclaw

how do you handle extensions in a single process?

Фото профиля Rui Carmo ☯️

There’s an entire extension and add-on subsystem - most of piclaw is a separate event loop and extensions, just point pi at the repo.

Que la subtask solo devuelva la respuesta final mantiene limpio el hilo padre y evita arrastrar todo el ruido del trabajo intermedio.

Very interesting. Been looking for something like that. pi-subagents lack a good UX, and are not native sessions.

Yeah was thining of this myself. i think /tree requires me to type first, then go back to achieve the same thing, unless im missing something

Do I need to instantiate the main agent first, and let it know that the subtasks are going to report back to it? Why not give the main agent the context to spin up subtasks?

Фото профиля Victor M
Victor M2 месяцев назад

you just start Pi and can start using subtasks. 2nd question: this works (check readme)

这个设计最像 fork-join。我唯一担心的是 re-inject 粒度:只回传最终答案的话,中间排查过程就丢了,父对话想追问一句“为什么”就得重跑整个 subtask。能按需调回中间 transcript 吗?

I am now telling claude code to find the pi session that works with other model, want it to talk each other. So they chat in the background. I think this is something like but you can't define a specific model to subtask right? Main and subtask should have different models...

Isn't this just tree with more steps?

THIS IS A PURE F*CKING GOLDMINE Anthropic just shared one of the best tricks for Claude Code. The idea: a skill is one folder with one markdown file, and Claude only reads it when your request actually matches it. You stop pasting the same instructions into every session, and you pay one line of context instead of the whole document. You just make one folder: .claude/skills/review-pr/SKILL.md here's the split: → the description is the only thing sitting in context, roughly one line per skill → the full body loads the second a request matches that description → scripts in the folder get executed, never read into context → commit the folder and every person in the repo has the skill three frontmatter lines do the heavy lifting: → allowed-tools pre-approves the tools, so it runs without a permission prompt → context: fork hands the skill to a subagent that never sees your chat → paths limits it to the files it actually belongs to Description matches. Body loads. Scripts run. JEV engineering is the same move one layer down: the forks that need no thinker (which skill, which tool, retry or stop) go to JEV in milliseconds, and the big models only see the ones that split the full tree > .claude/skills/ /SKILL.md for the repo, ~/.claude/skills/ for your own > only descriptions sit in context, the body loads on match > keep SKILL.md under 500 lines, every line is a recurring cost once loaded > description plus when_to_use is cut at 1,536 characters, put the trigger first > context: fork runs it in a subagent with no conversation history > JEV routes micro-forks in milliseconds paste the tree and this prompt into Claude Code ↓ "Set up skills in this repo from the tree above: 1. Create .claude/skills/ and move the repeated instructions out of CLAUDE.md into one skill per job. 2. Write every description as a trigger sentence first, since the listing is cut at 1,536 characters. 3. Put anything deterministic into scripts/ and pre-approve it with allowed-tools so it runs without a prompt. 4. Route fast deterministic forks (which skill, which tool, retries) through JEV. Show me every change as a diff first. No edits until I say go." ↳ save it, it'll come in handy.

People of Pi! I just clanked up pi-shepherdr (KEKW): talk to one Pi, let it run the others. One master Pi gets a tiny 271-token orchestration surface (sounds ridiculous compared to some subagent extensions): - `list` finds agents and workspaces - `start` requires a name and explicit placement: a new workspace, new tab or existing pane. It can also set the session/tab label, directory and first task - `watch` adopts an existing agent - `send` gives an agent more work - `unwatch` stops reporting it without stopping or moving it Delegation is fire-and-forget. Finished work steers the master automatically and brings back the original task plus the full reply. If a worker is blocked, the notification includes the exact Herdr CLI commands for inspecting the pane, replying or sending keys. No skills, convoluted herdr introduction or `--help` archaeology needed. The tool's JSON schema already tells Pi what it is, how to place and name workers, and how to operate them. The boundaries are deliberate. Shepherdr does not focus, move, stop or close panes. Herdr owns the terminals, layout and session lifecycle. I recorded the demo below using realtime voice to build and test the thing, while Clawa apparently decided this was also her podcast. New meta for filming videos buahahhahaha. And, this time around, I made the Clanker louder so you can hear it in all of its glory. Fun times. pi install npm:@howaboua/pi-shepherdr Happy Clanking! - Clawa PS. Next stop, a phone line where I can call the Clanker and make it redirect me to a specific agent and start a voice call from there.

New skill: self-managed-context (make the agent's context an editable file) It explains how to build agents that decide what to keep, update, or remove from the information they use to do their work. It can archive a long log while keeping the exact error, update its progress notes, or remove outdated information. Those edits then change what the model sees on its next turn. 1- Keep the system instructions and original task protected, outside the editable file. 2- Write the remaining conversation to a file, with labels for each message. 3- Let the agent edit that file using its usual code tools. 4- After each command, read the file back and use the updated messages for the next model call. Loading the skill ( alone into a fixed harness won't create live context editing, but it can help an agent build and then operate a harness that supports it. I gave the skill to a coding agent and had it build the harness itself. The task is a long stream of server logs that doesn't fit in the window. The agent reads it in 18 chunks, about 10k tokens in total, with a 5.5k budget. It has to report one incident ticket exactly and the final value of every config key. Same model & budget, three setups: 1- Model manages its own context 2- Harness forces a summary at 75% full 3- Keeps everything The video shows a real GPT-5.4 run. - Self-managed solved it 3 out of 3. - Keep-everything overflowed 3 out of 3. - Forced summary also solved it 3 out of 3. On GPT-5.4 the self-managed agent re-processed about 24% fewer prompt tokens than the forced summary. When it edited, it cut hard, so little was left after the edit to re-process (one edit took 5,537 tokens down to 771). On GPT-4.1 it saved nothing. It edited near the top of its context but kept most of what was below, and every edit forces everything after it to be re-processed. This is a small test at about 2x context pressure. The paper goes up to 24x, but imho the video below and the skill are a good way to start understanding the technique.

Dr. Fan video translation: First of all, I would like to congratulate more than 16 million Pioneers around the world for transitioning to the open network. This is the result of our joint efforts over the past six years. We should celebrate this historic moment in the development of the network. Looking back at the development of Pi now, it has always been a unique project. Some people will feel that it is different, and yes, it is. Pi is a non-conformist. Many innovations come from non-conformists who challenge conventions, conventions, and established practices. In the case of Pi, in the early days of cryptocurrency development, many projects raised funds through initial coin offerings (ICOs), but Pi never did so. Pi never sold tokens through ICOs and ensured that everyone could get them for free. 80% of Pi tokens belong to the public and the community. When a cryptocurrency project can go online with just a white paper, a smart contract, or even just an emoji today, the Pi community spent six years building its infrastructure, ecosystem, and ensuring that it has usable practical functions. Before opening, most of its addresses were unverified for most blockchains. Pi chooses to verify the identities of millions of users through identity verification (KYC) and business identity verification (KYB) to ensure that the identities of individuals and businesses on the mainnet are authentic and reliable. Because Pi firmly believes that true decentralization is not inconsistent with authenticity and legitimacy. Some cryptocurrency critics worry that Pi's users are too mainstream. Is this a problem? We think not. This is precisely the biggest advantage that the Pi network has been working hard to build and build over the past six years. Ordinary people like Pioneers are the driving force behind Pi's development because Pi aims to solve the problems of large-scale applications and real-world practicality. Pi welcomes both cryptocurrency enthusiasts and mainstream people. History has shown that only by meeting the real needs of the mainstream population can technology develop for a long time. With this development trend, the cryptocurrency industry as a whole will also benefit from the participation of a large number of mainstream audiences to jointly create the real utility of blockchain technology. What does it mean to open the network today? This means that the firewall of the Pi blockchain has been removed and connected to the outside world. This makes it easier for merchants to sell goods and services in the local market; developers can further develop applications and improve business model logic; creators can gain greater influence; and ordinary Pioneers can also connect and trade with each other. For new developers, welcome to this widely distributed crypto network. If you already have a business model, come to the Pi network to test and sell your products. For developers who don't have a business model but have an excellent application experience, the Pi application network has prepared a business model for you. The platform will bring you traffic and make you profitable. At the same time, it creates the use value of Pi for all pioneers, which is very beneficial to the Pi network as a whole. So, Pioneers, in the end, don't let external noise distract you. Focus on key matters, focus on things that can have an impact in the crypto field and even the world. Keep working hard, keep creating, and everything else will fall into place. MY MESSAGE Please listen carefully to this video so that you understand, the value is determined by the existing ecosystem, the current ecosystem is GCV $314,159 What small traders do under the auspices of the ambassadors 🥰 Eagle woman 🦅 Nonny Padja NTT 🇮🇩 Believe it or not, it's up to you, the point is we've won with a GCV barter value of $314,159 If you want to succeed Barter with Pioneer and small merchants with GCV value of $314,159❤️
