Finally some fruit came into Gaza through the commercial trucks! Quantities remain low and prices high as only 14% of trucks needed are allowed in. Support: Yesterday, October 22nd, the Sameer Project made fruit packages for the students of the Bashir School in Deir El Balah. 200 packages with... a banana, an apple and an orange in each one. Total cost was around $740 so $3.70 per package (11% commission). A two year old in Gaza today wouldn’t recognize some fruit because that’s how long they’ve been deprived with borders closed most of the genocide. With the “ceasefire” a few trucks started coming in with the military occupation ensuring that they don’t surpass the 15% of the daily néed of Palestinians in Gaza. Rice prices dropped! With aid starting to come in, prices in markets are slowly dropping. Our kitchen decreased the price of 800g of rice from $17.50 to $9. Donate: Prices fluctuate in Gaza due to the suffocating siege imposed by the military occupation. With aid coming in prices are dropping but if aid stops they’ll shoot up again. We hope that the aid comes in with at least 600 trucks a day consistently for people to get the nourishment they deserve. On the 31st of July, the Sameer Project team distributed 360 meals of rice in Asqalan camp in Deir El Balah. Cost was $17.50 so total of $6,300 with 10% commission. Tomorrow, Saturday, there is a rainstorm in Gaza that will last 4 days. Unfortunately camps will get flooded and people will get sick from the cold. The genocide in Gaza didn’t end. 200 vegetable packages were distributed in the Yarmouk Camp in Khan Younis, donate: Each package had 1.5 kilos of eggplants and 1 kilo of molokhye and cost $43 per bag with 10% commission. Total was $8,600. Vegetables are grown in Gaza and sourced from farmers in bulk. Unfortunately prices are extremely high and the people in Gaza can’t afford them. With the high temperatures, tents provide a huge sense of relief for Palestinians in Gaza. The Sameer Project distributes rice daily in the South and the North but we also give out food parcels that could last a family a few days, donate: On September 6th, we gave out 60 packages in Fares Camp in Sawarha in Central Gaza. Each parcel contained the following: 1 kilo of sugar, 1 liter of cooking oil, 2 packs of cheese, 1 kilo of rice, 2 cans of tuna, 1 bottle of tahini, and 1 can of tomato sauce. And the price for each parcel with 11% commission was $41 so the total was $2,460. Prices of staples vary according to the day because it depends on whether trucks came in that day or not, and how many trucks come in. The military occupation is ensuring that the famine continues by controlling the type and amount of supply going into the Gaza Strip. The Civil Defense team in Gaza risk their lives with empty stomachs every single day. They are constantly targeted by the military occupation and several fire trucks have been completely destroyed. Support them: When the civil defense team informed us about the trucks, the Sameer Project team immediately responded to fixing a fire truck. The cost was around $4,435 including 10% commission. These trucks save the lives of thousands everyday who are getting bombed every single day. Yesterday our team visited a camp called Atshana (translates to thirsty) and is located right next to the Sowerky cemetery in Deir El Balah. The camp is in bad condition and don’t get aid or support, donate: The Sameer Project team distributed 147 packages with 1.5 kilos of eggplants in each bag. The cost for each bag is $29.25 so the whole distribution cost around $4,300. One meal of eggplants alone for a family costs around $30 and these vegetables are sourced from farms running under big risks. These prices don’t include cooking oil, sauces or spices. Donate: This rice distribution was done in Asqalan camp in Western Deir El Balah. 320 meals of rice weighing 800 grams each were given out. The cost per plate is around $18.3 with 10% commission so the total is $5,966. This rice is sourced from traders inside of Gaza who get them from aid trucks lootings, intense fights over air drops or the deadly Gaza Humanitarian Foundation distributions. Lives were lost and risked for many of the items sold in the markets in Gaza today. Aid is political. Aid is resistance. Our aid is for the liberation of Palestine, support us: Water remains a key issue in Gaza and the military occupation is trying to plant the fear in people from distributing water. However, we at the Sameer Project keep going. The Sameer Project distributed 16,000 liters of water there yesterday on the 14th of July. There are camps that get water once or twice a week so we are working on those with little access to fresh water. Our efforts in providing tents continue in Sahel Sharqi camp in Deir El Balah. Many families in the camp live under a blanket or flour bags stitched together, donate: The Sameer Project team goes to the camp and supports the family by building the new tents for them. Another 5 tents were set up costing $418 each with 7% commission, so the total is $2,090. We understand that everyone in Gaza is in néed but the levels vary and we aim to support those most underserved. In every camp, the team does an assessment of tents, quality of wood/ poles and documents then picks those most in néed.
