Six arms instead of two! 🤯 Midea Group humanoid robot has six arms instead of two. It handles heavy components with lower limbs and performs fine assembly work with upper limbs. Full 360-degree rotation, stable vertical lifting, rapid tool-swapping. The robot handles workstation transitions that would typically require multiple human workers or separate machines. So no idle-time between stations. Pretty cool. But I'm really curious about the cost, and how this 6-arms robot compares to a regular robot arm, and then to a regular humanoid What do yo think? This robot is playing Tetris! 🧊 AGILOX dropped something exciting at LogiMAT. One of the most requested robot use cases finally automated: Manual truck loading. What I'm really impressed of is the high precision positioning of pallets directly next to the truck or container wall. This is what open robotics actually looks like! 🔓 I was in Bordeaux, sitting inside Pollen Robotics, and had a chance to play around with their humanoid robot Reachy 2. It’s expressive, modular, and can even bring you coffee, and of course runs Python or Rust. I was talking with Reachy in 3 different languages, tele-operating it and manipulating kitchen stuff, and make it even mimic my gestures. The best part is that there are no locked APIs, or hidden stuff, just an open platform that you can build upon. The connection with Hugging Face makes it super easy to start, as the open source approach allows everyone to contribute, experiment and add their own things. JUST IN: Unitree Robotics just unveiled the GD01, a manned "mecha" robot that transforms between two legs and four legs in real time. This is not a concept. This is a product. Starting price: $574,000. This robot weighs 500kg, is built from high-strength alloy, and has a torso-mounted cockpit. The demo video shows it walking upright, knocking down a brick wall with its hand, then reconfiguring into a four-legged crawl. Unitree calls it the world's first mass-produced transformable mecha. But the real story here is the bigger picture. Chinese companies accounted for nearly 90% of global humanoid robot sales in 2025. Unitree alone shipped 5,500+ humanoid robots last year. In the same period, Tesla, Figure AI and Agility Robotics each shipped around 150. And Unitree is now filing for an IPO on Shanghai's Star Market, targeting 4.2 billion yuan, 85% of which goes straight into R&D. The West is building incredible humanoid robots. A versatile robot helping out airports! 🛩️ Meet a two-wheeled robot from Fraunhofer IML! 🦿 This balancing robot with gripping arms successfully completed its initial practical tests at the cargo terminal of Munich Airport a while ago. It transported goods, supported loading and unloading, and assisted with physically demanding logistics tasks. This robot can carry loads of up to 100 kg and reach speeds of around 60 km/h. That’s far beyond what most AMRs can handle, yet it still has arms and a form of mobility that lets it work in spaces designed for people. P.S. A humanoidal welder! 👨🏼‍🏭 Persona AI deployed their humanoid to a real welding facility in Houston and executed an actual weld. All of that in a hot-work industrial environment with arc flash, smoke, and uneven flooring. The robot squats down, executes the weld with a steady arc, stands back up. Functional welding requires multi-joint precision, spatial awareness, and real-time path correction. The robot had to hold a lit torch, maintain arc stability, and lay down a valid weld path. The motion is choppy. They're honest about that. But they proved the robot can handle the full sequence that actual industrial work demands. Get low, do precision work, stand up, move to the next spot. That's the rhythm of real welding jobs. Teleoperation is their training method. VR headset interface captures expert demonstrations. Robotics is entering the mainstream! 👀 Let's accept this fact. Consumptionism – stonks. Possibilities (HW + SW) – stonks. Demographics - not stonks. Modern robots are often designed to interact with our legacy world, whether it's a household, a factory, or a shipyard. That means they often need to work with existing machines, tools, and spaces. In short: retrofitting. Improving old machines with new technologies without major interference in their operation. Modern way of integrating things. You don't have to change the entire environment to deploy a robot. The robot will adapt, just as human would when freshly hired. The promise is to have an army of robots to help with the world designed for us. I also believe that general purpose robots, are not a direct competition for single purpose machines (like a highly efficient specialized packaging machine, for example). Feeling what a robot feels is becoming real! 🫰 Fluid Reality just ran its first full end-to-end touch teleoperation system, and the demo shows why high-resolution haptics might be the missing piece in robot control. A 22 mm fingertip display with 32 independently actuated “bubbles” was mapped directly to tactile sensors on a robot hand. 🫧 Three fingers streamed real-time touch data robot → human, giving the operator actual contact feedback instead of waving their hands blind, like most teleop systems today. It’s still early, but this is a real step toward dexterous ops and high-quality data for training Physical AI systems. Companies involved: Samsung Electronics, Alt-Bionics, Inc. The robot seamlessly drives itself in and out of trailers and docks without any fixed infrastructure. Smart mapping for robots exploring huge areas! 🗺️ This is called Rolling-Bonxai. When a drone or ground robot maps a massive area, say a whole city or massive warehouse, storing the entire map in memory gets expensive fast. You run out of RAM. This solution is simple, only keep the nearby map in memory. As the robot moves, old chunks save to disk and new chunks load. Like how video games only render what's close to the player. The system divides the map into chunks (imagine a 3D grid of boxes). As the robot explores, it keeps chunks around it loaded in memory. Chunks it's moving away from get saved to disk. China’s traffic-robot isn’t the point. The point is this: Robots in China are evolving the way smartphones did: quietly, rapidly, and everywhere at once. While the West is still debating “AI ethics” like it’s a philosophy seminar, China is already turning robots into: • street officers • delivery workers • cleaners • inspectors • hospital assistants • public-service infrastructure Not because it’s “cool,” but because the cost, governance, and scale actually make deployment possible. Meanwhile in America, the country that should be using robots in law enforcement, even the idea is taboo. And let’s be honest: A robot wouldn’t shoot someone because of their skin color. A robot wouldn’t choke a man over a broken taillight. A robot wouldn’t fire 30 rounds because it “felt threatened.” A robot doesn’t vote, doesn’t join a party, and doesn’t turn policing into a frontline of political tribalism. For all the Western talk about “AI ethics,” it’s China where robots enter public service, and the US where humans with guns still behave like malfunctioning algorithms. China’s traffic-robot isn’t the point. The point is this: Robots in China are evolving the way smartphones did: quietly, rapidly, and everywhere at once. While the West is still debating “AI ethics” like it’s a philosophy seminar, China is already turning robots into: • street officers • delivery workers • cleaners • inspectors • hospital assistants • public-service infrastructure Not because it’s “cool,” but because the cost, governance, and scale actually make deployment possible. Meanwhile in America, the country that should be using robots in law enforcement, even the idea is taboo. And let’s be honest: A robot wouldn’t shoot someone because of their skin color. A robot wouldn’t choke a man over a broken taillight. A robot wouldn’t fire 30 rounds because it “felt threatened.” A robot doesn’t vote, doesn’t join a party, and doesn’t turn policing into a frontline of political tribalism. For all the Western talk about “AI ethics,” it’s China where robots enter public service, and the US where humans with guns still behave like malfunctioning algorithms. Q: Given the UN's big role in Gaza, UNRWA, has there ever been any indication to the UN that tunnels are being built under the city? UN: Not to us. I mean... it seems to me that all this infrastructure was built in a highly secretive way. I mean, I see it just as an observer... To think that the UN had any understanding of what was… any information about those operations, I think, is... No is clearly the answer to that.
