Finally started work on a project I have wanted to do for years. I'm reverse engineering + modifying a Big Buck Hunter cabinet (hunting game from 2000), working towards a nonviolent simulation of wildlife with infinitely generating landscapes, using only the original game assets.

I always wanted to do something similar except it still has the cross hair and when you pull the trigger a hand shoots out so that if your aim is right the hand pets the animal

total honesty: i'm struggling a bit. i'm not where i wanted to be by now last year i sold a piece for a big number, and felt like it would keep going. i relaxed a little bit. things stopped i'm lucky to have work coming steadily, but it's not as much as i wanted i've been working on the same project (a big one) for 2+ years and am still not done i want to be done with it. its too good to keep sitting on in the past, i tried to work in silence and then BOOM! release a big thing. i no longer think that works i'm going to take a page from jack butcher's book and try 'building in public' for the next few weeks, see how it goes, see how it feels starting literally now below is something fun i'm working on responsive animated comic-style website 100% hand animated enjoy :)

I have been building this game by myself for almost 200 days. Averaging at 2 hours a day it makes around 400 hours. total. The game is FAR from complete, but it is at a really good state! Some fun little things 2024 Brough with it for this game: -Started the project! -Got featured on 80 level and Rock Paper Shotgun! -PC gamer wanted to announce the game in their event (and wrote a nice article too)! -Got a publishing deal for the game! And with this, I will probably post the next bit of development next year! Have good holidays everyone! #screenshotsaturaday #buildinpublic #indiegame

I'm testing tree generation using only two reference images. Basically, my Gaussian Splatting generation technique works with almost anything. I can't wait to see the final result once I’ve gathered a huge library of realistic assets for my game. For optimization, I’m planning to use a LOD system that dynamically reduces the number of Gaussian splats based on the distance from the camera.
