I really, really, really wanted to drop this song last year. When I first put out the snippet, I was so excited - but it was hard to finish it on time because everything was a blur. I was sick and weak and nauseous and tired and my body just wouldn't do what I wanted it to. Even in the snippet video, I wasn't feeling great. I was just trying my best. I adore Chike's voice and I knew it was him that had to be on the song with me. When I asked him to give me a verse, he was so ready to go, but he was out of town. As soon as he came back, he came over to my studio the next day 🥹. I got a lotta respect for him. He didn't know I was pregnant and suffering 😅 Watching this video back now, I can't even understand where the energy came from. When the song was done, I struggled to mix it. Even so, I decided to master it myself. I hate mastering, so I don't know what I thinking. I was so disappointed that I couldn't meet the deadline. Everyone had fallen in love with the song and was asking me to put it out. I didn't have the energy to make content. I don't even remember them recording this video. Given how much I love this song, I'm a little bummed I couldn't give it energy it deserves. But please, know that a lot of love and resilience went into this song. In this podcast, she ties the spike in attacks after the Trump’s 2016 election directly to him, saying he “gave license,” “made it mainstream,” like his rhetoric pushed people over the line. She said it wouldn’t really matter if he came out and forcefully condemned it. In her view, people hear what they want anyway, so once that language is out there, the effect sticks. But look at how she and the SPLC talked about BLM. They were explicit that Black Lives Matter wasn’t a hate group and said there wasn’t real evidence its activists were driven by hateful or supremacist motives. Even with riots and violence, they said BLM was a legitimate movement with some individuals going too far. The only people who really cashed in on the “Hate Map” were Democrats. It was a perfect tool for them to keep the specter of hate alive.

I remember I had asked Brandon Aiyuk in the offseason if he would be down to do a YouTube live interview and he said that it wasn’t a good time and he’d let me know if something worked out. Naturally I just thought he was good off doing the interview which is perfectly fine but right after the 49ers lost to Philly in the NFCCG, he reached out and dm’d me if I wanted to setup an interview. I thought that was so cool that he really reached back out to set up the interview with me like he said he would. We did the interview, he was great, laid back, we talked ball, the chat was absolutely electric. My favorite interview I’ve ever done. I know BA has done a lot of extremely questionable things as of late but I genuinely miss this dude who just chopped it up with me on stream for over an hour and was super generous with his time.

This man ordered some pizza for dinner. He knows delivery drivers don’t carry much money and he only had a $100 bill. So he called down and explained to them and the employee said it was fine. When the delivery driver came out with the food he says he can’t break a $100 and only has $15 on him. The man tries to explain that he only has the $100 and that he already spoke to someone at the shop. The man is now refusing to give the pizza back and suggests the driver takes the $100 and comes back with change but the driver said no, since it was a busy day. I think the Mamdani that we saw in the campaign trail, who was a lot more calm, who was a lot warmer, who was a lot more embracing, was not present in that speech. And I think that Mamdani is the one you need to hear from tonight. There are a lot of people trying to figure out, can I get on this train with him or not? Is he going to include me? Is he going -- is he -- is he going to be more of a class warrior even in office? I think he missed a chance tonight to to open up and bring more people into the tent. I think his tone was sharp. I think he was using the microphone in a way that he was almost yelling. And that's not the Mamdani that we've seen on Tiktok and the great interviews and stuff like that." "So, I felt like it was a little bit of a character switch here, where the warm, open, embracing guy that's close to working people was not on stage tonight. And there were some some other voice on stage. That said, he's very young. And he just pulled off something very, very difficult. And I wouldn't write him off, but I think he missed an opportunity to open himself up tonight. And I think that that will probably cost him going forward."

#EVAN about BOF festival and seeing so many evers show up for him 😭😭😭 🦌 even though it was a festival all the way in busan which is quite far away… so many evers came just to see me and watch my performance. i’m really not joking. i was honestly… really shocked. 🦌 and whether a lot of people came or not, you only really find out once you step onto the stage right? before that, i had seen some evers posting on social media saying, “why are there so many evers here?” and i remember thinking, “really? how many people could there possibly be?” 🦌 but when i actually got up on stage, there were so many evers holding up “EVAN” signs and cheering for me.and something else that really stayed with me was seeing photos on social media of people holding up my flag. 🦌 seeing everyone cheer for me with so much passion made me feel… like this was something that shouldn’t even be possible. evers made the impossible happen. so i’m really, really grateful.

A year ago at Talladega I asked Kyle Busch about his upcoming 40th birthday and how he felt about it. Honestly, watching this back made me laugh a lot.
